And being Christmas Eve its crazy nuts busy in there.......so I decide to hide out a bit in the automotive section since noone was in there. The only peaceful place in the store. I was going to get a can of Seafoam because I hadnt run a can of it through in quite some time and there was some roughness around the edges as far as idle, low speed acceleration and deceleration. Then the Techron caught my eye. Seemed to be on sale or at least cheaper than usual and so Techron it is.
WOW!!! I put the whole bottle (smaller than the Seafoam) 10oz I think....in just over a half tank and go riding. after ten miles or so the idle was glass smooth and no hesitation on acceleration or deceleration. Much better results then when I use the Seafoam.
I guess its Techron every few thousand miles from now on.

Same good experience with Techron here. Heavy dosed the black & silver '99 after I bought it. Cleared up the idle & ran smoother. It had sat around in a barn for at least 6 months prior, Good stuff.

I know a few guys that work at GM Fuel and Lube lab. They told me years ago that the only fuel additive/injector cleaner that works is Chevron with Techron. They tested it on fuel injectors which have nozzles that are much smaller than any jets in a carburetor. It is a cleaner only, so will not do didley for stabilizing/preserving fuel, but does wonders for removing deposits.

Hmmm, sounds like a plan.... Seafoam in the fall/winter over and Techron in the spring.

Last time I checked, Techron was the only fuel additive approved by Honda for use in their motorcycle engines. I use it twice a riding season, and also in my cars. Very good stuff. I'm not sure about using it as a stabilizer; I've always used Seafoam with no issues, and just don't see the need to change.

Yea, when tht Seafoam went up by about 50% I switched to Chemtool B12 and it seems to do just as good of a job "keepin' her clean" and for about 1/3 the price!!

Good point, as the bike only sets a few days at a time in the worst of weather, which is right about now for us. However, I do use Stabil in my reserve gas for all the lawn equipment. Actually, I also run B12 thru them once or twoice a year.

i'll agree with the Techron as a cleaner. used it in my wifes van, made an increadibly noticable difference with it. good stuff. never used it in the cycle 'cause i think one bottle treats 15 gallons..... don't know if that'll ruin other parts of the carb if it's that strong.....

I am using the "new" Stabil for ethanol fuels in my bike right now. It is twice the price but you use half as much.

Kind of like the tire issue, everyone has an opinion and they don't always agree on what is the best. I like SeaFoam. It may not be the best and it's definitely not the cheapest, but it has always worked for me. I have used SeaFoam for many years now and I have never had a problem with my truck, car, motorcycle, four wheeler, or lawn mower when it comes to the fuel issue. So as I see it ....if it aint broke don't fix it!

I also use Tectron because of the excellent cleaning properties. My question is this: Can I use Tectron straight? I am taking off the carbs this winter because most of the set screws for the needle jets are frozen. (When I bought the bike, it was 6 years old and only had 2900 miles on it.) I plan on soaking them to free everything up. Is there any plastic in the carbs that might be damaged by the Tectron?
Thanks.
Paul

Uh, then don't use the whole bottle. Use the appropriate amount to treat 6 gallons or so.

Hi Roger, We have it, Canadian Tire should have it, I'm sure I've seen it there in the past, looking for injector cleaner. But like said already, should find it at Chevron.
