As much as I like fudgie's reply, it is incorrect. I believe that Cheaha will occur May 13 & 14. I also believe that it will be the same as pre-lodge years so you need to contact the hotel for a room. Hopefully Tim or someone in the know will provide more specific lodging information. Hope to see you there.

May 13-15. back to the Old venue. Sadly...that means:
NO catered meal NO bands NO taxi tralier probably NO private lodge
We'll reserve the pavillions...like the old days. i MAY provide charcoal and some soft drinks...and some grilling tools. BUT...you....have to provide your own food to cook (if you want to cook up at the pavillion). i'll help you....flip some burgers or whatever folks bring to cook.
There will be NO fee of course. But it will be really "scaled down". at least...we're still having it.
WARNING: rooms MAY be at a premium. I say may, as i don't know how many will still come with this reduced agenda? If many do come, the hotel, cabins, chalets, will fill up QUICK...like the old days. one good thing, it's WAYYYY after race week, so NO race "goobers" will be holding rooms THIS date!
So if you call, and they say they're full...MAKE SURE YOU MENTION THE VALKYRIE GROUP. if they still insist they're full....you know the drill. GO ON THE WAITING LIST. get ya' a back up "down in the valley....like Holiday Inn". But being up top is paramount.
Without the Private lodge, we lost 32 beds. that's a lot of room. NO, i HAVE NO ROOMS HELD OUT. so for all those who usually contact me and ask, the answer as usual....is ....nope.....i have no rooms held. when i controlled the Private Lodge...of course, i DID have rooms. but we gave that up (and it's $4000 price tag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
So again...dates 13-15 May. Get your room NOW...or ....hold your peace. No catered meal. No charges. We'll still put up a "who's coming" list. but it will just be to let folks know............who's comin'...
I MAY...have a group ride. if so, nothing elaborate. I'm thinking maybe take the group back roads to Barbers...then not so back roads to Talladega. Folks could stop at either of those two facilities to visit/site see. i will have a 50/50 up top. MAYBE ...some prizes....but not as many as the past.
Bottom line, the hey days are gone...at least for now. I'll have it "scaled down" this year...see who shows. If no interest, then this may be the last. if it still has interest...it may continue? Maybe some day, we'll do another big one? But for now, it's back to our roots...like it was at the first one in 2000.

How about a Hula Hoop Contest at the least.
A limbo contest.
Longest distance to attend round of applause.
Who has the most miles on a Valkyrie they own.
I will donate a Oil Change with Genuine Honda Filter and Rotella T Syntec Oil.(ALREADY HAVE THE OIL)
as a Prize for the Limbo Contest.
Sounds like we have a huge time alreay planned, Oh yeah I will donate a case of coke(as in Coca-
Cola) and two cases
of Beer (COORS LIGHT).
Whew almost feel the ALABAMA RAIN as of now.
Chrisj CMA is that picture of ya'll taken on US421 the Snake in Tennessee?

we can do the Hoola Hoop thing....perhaps the limbo (if i can get it up there, i'm NOT bringing the trailer...we're riding up...but daughter is coming up in the car). ladies tattoo? There will still be some activities up top. maybe even some music/DJ???? But it just won't be the "big" event it had come to be....with Private lodge...catered meals....bands....COST (our budget was running close to $5000 the last few years...thus, we had to charge a small fee). The cost and headaches and stress became TOO much to want me to continue on that path.....for the forseeable future.......

Here's a link. I've had a reservaton since May. Just called to check on it and they have a new reservation policy. Used to they held the room with a credit card number. Now they require one night's deposit. However you can cancel for a refund three days prior. Here's their number and link to google map. 256-488-5115. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Cheaha+State+Park,+Delta,+AL&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=48.374125,62.226563&ie=UTF8&hq=Cheaha+State+Park&hnear=Cheaha+State+Park,+Delta,+Cleburne,+Alabama+36258&ll=33.45436,-85.834808&spn=0.773387,0.97229&z=10

I'm going to try camping for the first time. I thought that cheaha would be a good trial run. I'm planning on going to Inzane (hotel) and then head out to Sturgis and camp when I get there. If time permits might camp at Yellowstone too. You know us old farts CRAZY.
