Who's up for a wrench party in Houston? Jan 8, start time TBD, but probably in the mid-morning timeframe. We'll be back at Phyllis's. Email or PM me for directions if you need 'em.
I'll be there.

So glad you approve!
We're planning on the Sloppy Joes, and we'll have soft drinks and coffee. If it's on the cooler side, we'll have hot chocolate (instant) and hot apple cider (instant). Anything I'm forgetting?

Start time - 9ish as usual.
Tire installation? Sorta. We've got a tire place up the road that mounts tires for $15, you bring the tire, and we'll help pull the wheel and take it down there. If it's a rear tire, Wizard will show you how to check and lube the splines, etc.

I am planning on being there. Actually hoping to bring my 1984 Honda Magna down and do a carb job on it that Saturday. Always nice to have 'pros' around to help keep me straight.
Got the rebuild kits ordered and on the way.

I'm gonna show. I got some extra 90 deg. valve stems and a GYTT! Wow... You know with only 600 or so miles on the Fat Lady I am a little embarrassed to say that she is still intimidating me just a little. I just can't seem to get leaned over very much. All that beef on top of my leg has gotten the better of me. At least I am holding my lines pretty good now. She is so delicate, so soft to the touch. Did I mention how smooth she is? All I have to do is think that I want to move around on the road and she is moving! I am really in Hog Heaven with this bike. Looks like I'll be riding solo, though?? I don't think Dian is into a bunch of wrenching and stuff. Anyway since I haven't gotten used to this Metzler, the Darkside should be just a little blip on the learning curve. I can't wait.

Once again, it was a day full of good friends, good bikes, and blessed with good weather. We had around 11 show up, got some repair work done, lots of good converation. New friends, old friends, just what it takes for a perfect day. Even my sloppy joes went over well! Folks stayed till 6:30 p.m. We got the bikes put up, the "groceries" put up, dishes soaking in the sink, etc., by 7:30.
I can't wait till we do it again!!

Lyn-Del you and Wizard are the greatest! I had the best time ever. Thanks to everyone there that made sure nobody was left out. New or Old everyone was taken at face value and there didn't seem to be any agendas. Except one maybe. I found out that I may have met my match (or my better) with Rogerthat on economics and economic history. He seems to be very smart and knows his history. I am not that smart, but I do like to learn about the history of money. I had a great time. AND I WENT TO THE DARKSIDE! Wow, things got a little squirly when I got to the end of the driveway and I had no back brakes. (you know we spread the pads to reinstall) Ok, as soon as the brakes were not there I knew why... Later the real fun began. With the darkside tire you have to 'encourage' the bike off of top dead center, ok... Four of us left together, single file and I was third in line. we were on very small county roads and the surface was smooth and dry. (my tire is brand new GoodYear Triple Tred). In the second intersection I 'encouraged' my Valk over for the turn and applied throttle and SQUIRT, the back tire slipped out a bit. I said "uh oh, what was that", now I am leery of it. So all the way home I don't know how much 'encouragement' is needed in these kinds of turns. It's all good... I will get it down. I took one look at Wizards floor boards and I know that a properly scrubbed in car tire can swing as low as any MC Tire. When is the next Wrench Party? I'll bring the cookies next time! Blotar

Sorry I had to bail early. Priorities, and all that. The little one is feeling better, and so is Momma. So, a successful day on my end, too.
Hoghead: Was that you I saw on your way in? I guess Phyllis's place couldn't handle two blue/silvers there at once, so I had to leave JUST before you arrived.

I've slipped the back tire out with both motorcycle and car tires on the Valk if I goosed it a bit on an intersection turn. In first and second, that flat 6 has a ton of torque. But it's probably just a matter of scrubbing the tire in a bit plus getting used to the car tire. Give it a few hundred miles and you'll be throwing sparks like the rest of us. Welcome to the Darkside! RainMaker
