I did a search and came up empty...

I would like to replace the tool kit that's missing on my new-to-me Valk Tourer. Seems like I was unable to find a replacement when I looked a while back. Seems like someone suggested that I just make up my own. Does anyone have a list of what I'd need to be covered at least as good as the factory tool kit?

Thanks for any help...

HDL is not your friend Sad

The tools are listed individually thought it used to have the set price.

I would definitely call Pinwall Cycle for an OE tool set.

Thanks for the link, Travis. Went ahead and ordered it. A used kit would have been ok, but I just wanted to get it over and done. Shipping was about $10.

Now I'll have the peace of mind of knowing that at least I have the minimum tools aboard...

Thanks for everyone's quick responses! I really appreciate how everyone helps around here. cooldude

Got this email regarding my order for a new tool kit...

John,
Thank you for placing your order # 1309. While processing this order, we have been informed by Honda, that part # 89010-MZ0-000 (Tool Set) has been discontinued and no longer available. Please let us know if there is another order that you would like to place. There has been no charge applied to your xxxx card. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. Thank you.

Keep an eye on ebay.  They do come up for sale on there from time to time.

Also, CALL Pinwall, and let them know what you want.  They must get some with their bikes.

Otherwise, it would be pretty easy to make one up with regular tools, and have much better quality to boot.

+1 on ebay and the classifieds. Put up a wanted ad and you might have some luck as well. I'm sure somebody has one sitting that they don't need. I sold the set off of my Standard this past spring for $10 I think. Personally I'd just take the $70 and buy a decent set of wrenches, screw driver, pliers, and small ratchet set.

The Valkyrie tool kit as a useful array of tools when the bike breaks down is misnomer. Especially so since there is no center stand on the bike.

Besides, the Valkyrie is a very dependable motorcycle and any other kind of a breakdown except for a flat tire is very rare.  Most breakdowns I know of, are usually from the poor quality aftermarket components that some install on their Valkyrie's.  There's a moral there!

The better choice over a tool kit would be a flat tire kit.  A plug system and a means to inflate the tire. The Valkyrie tool kit is no help in a flat tire situation.

Get yourself a flat tire kit.

I'd go along with Ricky-D, I have had MGM since 1996, have 242,000+ miles on it, and that tool kit has not been out of there except when I replaced the battery.

I have a tire plug kit and a nice cheap compressor from Wal-Mart.    I found out a year or two ago, ya need to use it often after it's initial use or have some blower fan oil to keep the piston from seizing to the cylinder.  Stopped to help  a guy and his wife. got the tire plugged but the compressor wouldn't run.  Got mad, slammed it on the ground a couple of times and it would finally run about 60%.   We did get it aired up and them on their way.

+1 on the idea of the tool kit not really 'helping' in any real way...  I'd have to say such pitiful tools do more to frustrate me, than help me.

It's nice to have a couple of gadgets that are included in there... the shock adjustment tool figures highly in my mind... and the big wrench that loosens the wheels... but you'd do better carrying 'real' tools... and a tire repair kit with a pump.  I like gummie strings and rubber cement.  I have had great luck with them...  better to have 'em and not need 'em, than need 'em and not have 'em.

There's a winger out there who has compiled a very complete tool kit...  http://goldwingtech.info/Rudy%27s_Custom_Toolkit.htm

I pretty much follow this kit, but I add things.  I like long snout hemostats... and magnetic retrieval tools... ziplocks... wire ties, a 3 1/2" magnetic parts tray...

Good point RJ; I have one on the bike for years, but it was only tested the day I bought it.  I'll bet the vast majority of us have been lucky to never need it either.    Another project added to Spring to-do list.

Let's see.... blower fan oil, and slam it on the ground....   Roll Eyes

Can't help but chuckle...so many say it's worthless, and that they never use theirs, but didn't see anyone offering to give theirs up...

Just an observation...

If you want a tool kit just for the sake of having one like me laugh mine have never been out of the bag. just for show. laugh I carry another tool kit with real tools in it. I have numerous Honda tools and can probably make one up for you. Send me a PM if you want. I agree with Ricky. Flat tire kit and must although I'm not real comfortable plugging a motorcycle tire. I have heard some horror stories.
