I have a Mag as well in my tractor trailer I've had it for years and can't count the times I've dropped it....Still works like new ....IMO a good bang for the buck.

I will never buy another mag lite again. I don’t know about the LED ones, but I know the old ones that take 2AA batteries suck!! I’ve had four of them over the last 15 years, and all four of ‘em needed to be smacked on the wall to get them to be 100% bright, not to mention the batteries always “leak” in ‘em. My favorite flash light is one that I have for my 14.4v DeWalt cordless drill. It’s got a Kryptonite bulb that’s super bright. I mean extremely bright!! It stays lit for three hours straight. That’s the one I like.

Is that one that you can carry on your belt? I should of been more specific. I want one for my belt with the push button on the tail, seems like others I've been trying are on when I go to retrieve it from the pouch.

Check out the energizer Lithium LED. A little pricey ($38) but has 65 lumens, waterproof, clips on your pocket w/back button and will dimm way down to conserve the one aa battery. Very strong and looks like it's going to last.

Leatherman Monarch 500...Yes,the same Leatherman that makes the great multi-tools. The flashlights are very good. The Monarch 500 is the same size as a Mini Mag light, it fits in my Mag light sheath. It runs on two AA batteries and it is BRIGHT. It blows a Mini Mag away. It's LED, so no shaking or hitting it to make it bright. It just works. Also, has the tail switch you are looking for. On and off. Simple. I work a night shift and use mine every night. And yes its been drop tested! I bought my daughter one to have in her dorm room at college. Google it. About 30 bucks, and worth it.

The AA mimi Mag can be found for under $10 with a sheath. Then you get a www.niteize.com adapter for it. It has a 1 watt LED and a button on the bottom. The button can get you 3 brightness levels and a slow and rapid flashing mode. Total price is under $30.

My name is John, and I'm a Flashoholic! If you want a "great flashlight" you should consider the Streamlight Stinger LED DS. It is rechargeable, has both the tailcap switch you want and a switch on the head. The light has 3 operating levels from about 180 lumens down to 45 lumens as well as a strobe capability. If you have to work around reflective areas with it you really learn to appreciate being able to dim it down. You can get it with AC or DC chargers, or both. Mine came with the piggyback charger and a spare battery. The piggyback charger allows you to charge the spare battery out of the light. For about 20 years I thought that MagLights were the only flashlights worth carrying. Four years ago my work supplied a xenon bulb stinger for me to carry on the job. It's a good light except for the decreasing output of the incandescent bulb as it gets older(30 hr rated bulb life). I bought the LED stinger and it has replaced the work light (now rides around in the truck ) and the MagLights (almost all converted to LEDs, now sitting around the house, shed, cabinets, etc.). The only thing I would like to change on mine is that it doesn't have the tailcap switch. The streamlight LED DS is around $100 to $120. Here's a link to the Streamlight product page http://www.streamlight.com/product/product.aspx?pid=135

A really good place to research flashlights is at http://www.flashlightreviews.com/index.html. He does in-depth reviews and testing of a wide variety of flashlights. You can also get a lot of really good info on the candlepower forum at http://www.candlepowerforums.com/.
