Crosby, Texas

« on: December 31, 2010, 01:59:38 PM »

Well, I sure have been enjoying this Forum! There are so many helpful souls ready to jump in and give and take all kinds of info or advice. I particularly have enjoyed the Tech Stuff and the feeling that so many put out. It seems an awful lot like a family. I have been searching for a Valk for about three months and was going to wait for income tax time... but, when the bug bit me, I couldn't contain myself any longer. I found a nice looking CT in New Jersey on Ebay and put in a bid + an option. My better half wasn't pleased as it was going to mess up Christmas. It's all good anyway I was out bid and chose not to pursue. I was still, in fact, infected with that 'bug'. I remembered that I had seen a 98' CT about 60 miles away but without any pics and 62K miles. I called the seller and the game was afoot. I slid over to the bank and got my 5K out in three little cigar wrappers and a nice slim envelope. The wife and I got in the truck and headed for Montgomery. I told her if this bike had bumpers front and rear, I was going to wet myself right there in the truck. As we pulled up she told me to get a towel and there it was. I was sooo excited. I have not ridden in 5 years and this has been a dream even when I was on the V-max. Of course the Tech stuff is all new to me and this bike is surely a Beast in every way imaginable. I have about 500 miles on the old girl now and am still evaluating what I want/need to do to her first. She has tbr pipes that sound very sweet all the time and everthing works well. I am still getting used to the noises that it makes and maybe my slow jets are a little fouled. I am using some gas treatmenet little by little and riding every chance I get. The work ride is 24 miles one way and Wednesday we got several inches of rain most of it on my way home. It is all part of the plan. I am still trying to get logged into photostash, but my login is failing. I look forward to meeting many of you on the road as I will be trying to organize many new adventures in the future.
Thanks in advance,
  Bruce

Bruce,

Check out the Texas VRCC Board. There is a wrench party coming up down your way in the Houston area. Good people down there. Come introduce yourself on the Texas Board. Welcome from Fort Worth, Texas.

you will have a good time at the wrench party, and get to know some of the folks in your area also.  Doing your own work is the best way to know that it is done the way it should be.

Welcome, Bruce!

I look forward to meeting you and riding with you soon.  The Mid-Winter Gathering / Wild Game Dinner is 18-20 February, and the Gathering of the Fools 1-3 April 2011!  Both are great times with great folks and support great causes.  Given that they are both Valkyrie-related, it is safe to assume great food is part of fun!

PhotoStash log-in failure.......

Have you joined the VRCC?  Unfortunately registering for the message board doesn't translate to VRCC membership.

That member number and password is your PhotoStash log-in.  Also, vendors that give VRCC discounts may require that number.

:cooldude:The VRCC is the very best tool you can have in your bag when you ride a Valkyrie.  And, you're right, it's like a family that I've enjoyed being a part of since 2000 when I bought my Interstate and joined.  Best early advice I got was to buy a Honda Shop Manual.  From there, you can pretty much service it yourself with expectance of a quick response to your questions from info on the Tech Board and from your posts on this board.  And, the FOLKS,  you're gonna love 'em!

Good on ya! Youll fit right in after a few screws get loose.
I've been to a keg party and several working parties and even hosted a pots-n-pans party.
Youre lucky to go to a wrench party.  AND FOOD!!  Whats the weather gonna be like?
