I called Joe Sunday to see if he felt like riding after the soaking he got on Saturday.  He respectfully declined as he and the others got all the riding they wanted in the downpour we had Saturday.  It was already after one o'clock so I gave the wife a kiss and headed out the door.
Long ago I realized that it wasn't the number of miles that made a good ride----but what happens during the ride that matters.  I headed North on Hwy 33 and started following a Harley and a sport touring bike in Maynardville.  Stayed with them at a liesurely pace to Tazewell.  We turned onto Hwy 25 heading to Clinch Mtn. and I decided to let the old girl have her head.  Soon the other two bikes dissappeared from view in my rear view mirrors.  Darn that Wild Bunch; I've gotten used to riding at the speed of light with them and speed limits seem so slow now.  I pulled into the little resturant at the top of Clinch Mtn. just across from the Viet Nam Memorial to have a late lunch and coffee.  I noticed a couple Harleys, a Victory Cross Country, a Kaw sport touring bike and a trike parked in front, so I pulled in beside them and went in.  I picked a table close to the bikers.  My Gerbings gloves were still hanging from my coat sleeves and the lady riding the trike said "another wuss biker with heated clothes".  We had a good laugh over that.  I recognmized one of the guys as a Knoxville motorcycle officer I had met earlier in the year and he had let me ride his new Victory cross country.  A great riding bike by the way.  We had lunch together and a great ride back to Halls, TN. where we split up for home.  About a 100 miles total with dry roads, cold wind and great company!

Good Report.

Did you have any of that Vinegar Pie at the Clinch Mountain Restaurant?

No Vinager Pie this time Big Al.  I wish you guys could have been there though!  A good quick but short ride to start the New Year off right!
