It was a tough 2010 in some ways for me...  Probably the worst part was my mom passing away...  I know she's in a better place, but I miss her.  Before she started failing, she loved to tool around in her '91 Honda Civic DX.  She purchased it new, in '91, and took care of the car like it was a rare collectable  Wink

My dad and I were talking the other day, and I was crabbing about the fact that gas had gone to $3.09.9/gal, and my '03 Suburban was killing me at the pump (I ride the Valk almost every day, when there is no salt or snow on the roads, but it's been parked since Thanksgiving).  My dad says to me 'Ya know, mom's car could use a bit of work, but it would be much better on gas...  Would you like it?'.  Well, that's a no brainer  uglystupid2

Well, by a 'bit of work', he meant it needed a muffler, and the cruise control didn't work...  Other than that, it is as clean as a 20 year old car can be...  It's a DX, which means it is a bare bones, basic car...  1.5 liter fuel injected 4 cyl, 5 speed manual, crank windows, manual locks, no right side mirror...  When she got the car, my brother and I installed a Craig/am/fm/cassette, the dealer added A/C and Cruise.  It now has only 70K on the clock  Grin

I ordered and installed a muffler ($70), ordered and installed a right side mirror ($25 from eBay) and fixed the cruise (broken in-line fuse holder)...  Runs like a Valk ( Wink ) and gets better gas mileage (38 mpg, last fill up).  Other than needing a 'shoe-horn' to get in and out, I love this little bucket!

Thanks mom...  I promise I'll take care of your baby  cooldude

Just when the highway straightened out for a mile
And I was thinkin' I'd just cruise for a while
A fork in the road brought a new episode
Don't you know...

Conform, go crazy, or ride a motorcycle...

Steve, I'm getting a mental picture of you sliding down into the driver's seat and putting your goggles on , ready for some speed!!  Grin

I envy the 38 mpg..... I sometimes miss my GEO Metro...mostly every time I pull up to a gas pump, I miss that little car.

You should bring that chick magnet around to my house, and we can go cruising the boulevards.

Gotta give ya a little sense of "home"  or something when you get in the car...  a comfortable feeling, even if it is a squeeze to get in...    Enjoy the car when you can...  You know your mom would want you to.   Hope you had a decent Holiday at least...  See you later this season for sure!  We'll try and make it a better 2011, okay?  Evil  coolsmiley        Be safe... The best heirlooms are the things loved ones loved and touched often.
 Enjoy it. God Bless.
