Doc just wonderin' is the " Covered Bridge Ride " gone like " Dragons On The Beach " ? I always enjoyed the northbound ride in Sept..I've got a couple ride's in mind for Sept. however if The Covered Bridge Ride was to happen again in 2011 I'd be planning on doing that ride. What about the Tri-State Ride that was talked about last year ? Things got alittle controversial last year when a couple rides all came up on the same dates in Sept.

I thought I heard last year's (2010) CBR was going to be the last one, at least with Doc at the helm. Although, we've been working pretty hard on a couple of others to resurrect the Hoosier State Ride In as a substitute around the same time of year.

Rainman (Steve) put on a really good ride later last year along the Ohio river on the Indiana side. Maybe that will grow to be a replacement.  Undecided

No " Covered Bridge Ride " in 2010 we did the entire " Natchez Trace Ride " in 2010 to replace that ride. All good things come to a end I guess however I'll wait on Doc to tell me yes or no before I plan a ride across The Blue Ridge Parkway for this same time frame.

We had the ACDC ride last year (Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Cruise) had a small group but everyone seemed to enjoy. It was set up similiar to the CBR.  A place to visit and ride backroads but not much in the way of curvy roads.   However, Mark, Mad 6Gun and NE Ind rep, changed jobs so things are uncertain and it's too much work for just me to do.  I'll ask him if we have the interest tho. The CBR has been retired to the history books.  Lots of GREAT memories of it.

I certainly hope folks will step up and take the lead with new events.  There are a lot of good ideas and alternatives to fill the void.

Best wishes to all in the coming year.

Yep, alot of friendships were formed at the CBR and a ton of hangovers!  Cheesy Always one of our fav rides.
Rainman and scoobydoo were talking about making the So Ind a annual ride. Well worth the ride up, esp for the BBQ. Only bad thing was it was 90 deg in Oct and took painter (Gary) and I, 3 liquor stores to find Pabst.  Grin Hope to do it in '11.

Well then Dragons on the Beach is a Great Ride,

Who is up for that.

A cheap motel and a few dancing girls, I feel even I could arrange that.

What is the interest and we'll go from there.

Al of Panama City Circle of Truth Fame.

DDT was there.

With the large group that attended " Dragons On The Beach " over the Veteran's Day Weekend every November I always thought another Florida member would keep it alive......I thought wrong  Sad We've had some nice rides to replace Dragons On The Beach it's a weekend we plan a road trip every year.

Steve (Rainman) & I are working up a ride. Going to be in the French Lick / Bedford area in Indiana
One of the stops will be the West Baden Resort (hugh dome built in the early 1900's) in French Lick. We talked tonight & still getting the details together. Rainman is going to post the dates more info. this weekend.
If you haven't been to Indiana in a while we would be glad to share some wind with ya all. If you have time google West Baden it's impressive, billed as the 8TH wonder of the world at the time.

The " June Ride " that Don ( Highbinder ) and I do will be in West Virginia this year. We had hoped to make a run up that way next weekend to firm up the dates and motel information however looking at the extended forecast that will not happen...They claim a low of 5 degree's for my area next friday morning and Don's lives in the Virginia mountains Shocked

I've had several ask me when will we do the entire " Blue Ridge Parkway " again. I did'nt want to make plan's if the " Covered Bridge Ride " was going to happen in 2011. Looks like it will be a go and the dates will be Sept.2-3-4 ( Labor Day Weekend ) . I think we had around 30 bikes show-up the last time we did this ride a few years ago....Bring It....LET'S RIDE  Smiley

Cheaha ALMOST joined the history books....but so many folks contacted me...i decided to have a go for the 11th year. BUT IT WILL...be scaled back compared to the last several years (no private lodge, no bands, no catered meals, etc.). pending what kind of participation we have this year...and how it goes....will decide if we retire CHeaha to the history books or have a 12th in 2012.........

RIP.................. PCB, CBR, Helen, GA....etc, etc.

We called when you gave the dates and was told " No Rooms " we needed ( 2 ) Double rooms...I don't do tents so it looks like we'll need to figure out somewhere else to go for our spring ride .

you know the drill...be persistent. mention Valk riders. GET ON THE WAITING LIST...ask about cabins, chalets...etc. I took a chalet this year, so we could free up a room...and i can  bring Susan and the "attack Dogs".

anyway, i bet you a dollar...if you persist...keep calling...AND GET ON THE WAITING LIST...you'll get a room (probably).

another thing i found out THIS last week. The pavilions...that we're going back to like the old days...are under NEW management (more park turnover). at first, the guy insisted they were DAY USE ONLY. i finally got him to back off. But i did find out, as of last year, those "primitive" camp grounds surrounding the pavilion...are now upgraded...and people STAY right near the pavilion.

that means TWO things:

1. THOSE WHO CAMP...could camp right next to ground zero. Think....party till you puke, then crawl back to your tent?

2. They MAY be a bit more strict on quiet hours at 1000 PM (that has ALWAYS been the rules...just losely enforced at times). So, we need to keep that in mind late at night.

3. We'll have to see how it goes with the new guy in charge of the pavilion. In the past, we've always drank like fish in the pavilions...and...THE TRASH CANS...showed the evidence of that!  Evil  BUT IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN TECHNICALLY ILLEGAL TO DO SO. the park rules clearly state you can't drink openly in "day use" areas...and that...includes the pavilions. So, it will be interesting to see if 'the day after'...the trash crew finds the evidence...WILL THEY SAY ANYTHING NOW DAYS? Never did in the past..........but some times........things change, ya know....... uglystupid2

Waiting list...get on it!
