I am planning a trip out to the Big Bend.  I have been doing this for some time... (first trip was in 1986)

My dates are March 12th thru 17th.

I will be staying in Alpine at the http://www.antelopelodge.com/

There seems to be some interest on the gold wing forum as well... but regardless of who else shows... I'm going!

Come ride the Big Bend!

I am not a troll!  "I'm a REAL boy!"

Why thank ya, guys...

I'm a total geek!   Cheesy  Been riding ever since I bought my first bike, a Honda Mini Trail 50 in the summer of 1969 at Pasadena Honda...

Been "Wingin' It" here lately and still have the Wing... a quality bike and unsurpassed for long distance touring.  Love it!

But... I just HAD to have a Valk.  Bought mine November 5th and have been pouring time and money into it ever since.  I bought it from a widow... after her husband died, she couldn't move it.  So it had been sitting outside under a cover for nearly two years.

It's a screamer now though...

Just thought I would through out an invitation for folks to come ride along with me on my annual pilgrimage out to Big Bend.  Ya never know, someone might just take me up on the offer...

I love Big Bend and surounding area. I will try to drive a little slower next time however. I will check my work schedule (darn work keeps getting in the way of having fun) for those dates. Hope to make it. Pat

Cool site...I love the covers...

Flamingobabe...

Oddly, I used to live in Friendswood... right behind what used to be the Kroger store... on a lil cul de sac.  Lottie Lane... first road on left as you leave 518 headed toward Pearland on 2351.

Pat!  Bummer dude!  Those DPS dudes are relentless.  And the Border Patrol is just getting scary!  Last time I went through the checkpoint at Dryden, they signaled me over to the side and asked me me to step off my bike while the dogs took a sniff.  In 30+ years of Big Bending that is the first time ever the BP's asked me to step off my bike.

By and large... I don't like to hurry to much through West Texas... 65 and enjoy the ride.  I LOVE to be out of the room and on the rode before dawn... sunrise in the desert is AWESOME!  Sometimes, when the lights just right... I get some really splashy motorcycle shots... like this one:

NOTHING beats daybreak in big bend for sexy pictures of your bike...

us385south,
My Son has been to the Big Bend before and also stayed in Alpine, He rides a VTX and he is down with going again. I would enjoy riding with you and a whole group on the 12th of March. It would be our first ride together... One of the biggest things on my 'to do list'.

Blotars son, Isorg here.

I was just talking with some friends about my trip to big bend last February and how it was time to go again.  Today, I check my email and i got a message from Blotar about this very thing.

The last 2 years i have put some major miles on my Honda VTX but I really want to take my Yamaha FZ1 and ride River Road!  Last year we homebased in alpine, and we enjoyed river road so much, we did it 2 days in a row.

If ya'll don't mind a "sport bike" tagging along, would be glad to go!

Isorg, Both!

I'm cool with that!  Draws police attention away from me...

There might quite possibly be a few gold wingers on this trip too.  I work in Seguin so I am likely to be lighting out after work toward Del Rio on that Friday afternoon.  I'll be circumnavigating SA to the south on 1604, hooking up with US-90 and will rode on into Del Rio and get a room.  (Prolly La Quinta.  They have a big glass storefront on the lobby and the management allows bikers to park their bikes up there under the cover so the night desk-man can watch them overnight.)

The main reason I am doing this is because I love that ride out US-90 across Amistad, through Comstock, across the Pecos and into the desert early, early in the morning.  Awesome stuff!  daybreak rides through the desert!

Anyone is welcome to meet me in Del Rio on Friday night or some of you Houston guys might want to run the interstate out past Fort Stockton and turn south on US-67.  That is a long long ride from Houston and you'll need the option of putting miles beneath you that first day.  From here, i can be in Del Rio in about 4 hours.

I am not going to be able to make it unless my company changes it's mind about a managers meeting on 16 thru 18 of March. There is no way I can skate this three day conference and I just found out today. Dang, I really wanted to go do this. they could change the date, but I suspect the hotel has already been booked or they wouldn't have announced Sad
