I live in Ossining NY (hence the handle Oss) made famous by Sing Sing Prison
the town has been named SINGSING several times over the years and the home of
SPARKY the 1st electric chair and where the expression UP THE RIVER comes from
The only other school to have as many semifinalists this year is the Bronx High School of Science (my dad went there in the 1940's before going into the service and then night school
Ossining is about one third white one third black or brown and one third Spanish and Portugese speaking
It was the subject of a plan forty some odd years ago in which there is one school for each couple of years so all kids know each other and accept each other. This was desegreation big news back then.
The result is some great sports teams and some really bright kids that get to ride to their potential and parents who really are true boosters.
