Anyone heard of these or mounted them ??  Seems a little pricey. Wondering how they would work with my Tsukayu saddlebags.

I had a set, never mounted them, sold them on eBay. I wish I hadn't have sold them. As far as I could tell from the angle of them, they would work great with OEM bags or with Champion's hardbags that look almost identical to the OEM. I think the Tsukayu bags front angle is too severe, but I could be wrong.

More importantly though, I don't think Champion makes them anymore. If you check and find out they still make them, let me (us) know.

I had heard that they were no longer made, and also that they will not fit with stock Honda bags (at least not without some modifications).   Better call.

I was looking for a set when I got my first interstate ('05) and heard the prices for OE bag rails.

They are nice and functional too, unlike the flimsy dress-up bag rails available from Tsukayu. I wish I would have had  a pair on a couple weeks back Embarrassed  I dumped my bike while cleaning the front wheel, now I need paint Angry

I've heard they were no longer made too...  I have Champion bags, and their Crash Bars, and unless there is something I'm not aware of, the bars should fit the stock Valk hard bags.  The Champion bags are pretty much a direct clone of the Honda bags, only difference being the mounting and the interior finish.

I'd say that if ya stumble across a set, snag 'em.

Has anyone you know of looked into using any of the Harley Davidson FL guards ??  I'm guessing there would be some modifications required. Looking at some of the stuff on e-bay it looks doable. End result of course would need to look "store bought".

Nope.  They are 'Wild1 Chubby' bars.  1 1/4"  fat bars.  Necked down to the stock 1" at the riser and on the control ends.  Mine are the RK518's...  Made for the HD Road King.  A bit lower, wider, and more pull back than stock.

Look at their 'Blemished' section...  Less $$$ and unless yer building a 'Show Bike', you will never notice the blem...

I like the vertile side guard, same on my Honda ACE Tourer, and if I still have my IS, I was going to duplicate a set that will fit it.

I just bought a used set from a fellow HSATF forum user, so I can replace one of my ACE T guards with one that isn't scratched. Since I'm stripping down my Valk, I will be able to try the ACE guard on the Valk and see how close they will fit. They mount in different places, and I feel the 2 guards are for different uses. The Valk's keep the bike more upright, and the ACE is for protection of the saddle bags.

It would be nice to have one that does both.

I notice you are using those bars AND risers. I have the same risers and would like a little more back and width, looks like the perfect setup! Can you install those bars and the risers with the stock cables? Thanks for the photo's and the link cooldude

I'm going to give these a try. Off an 1800 GW. Should be a pretty easy mount with some mods. They are take offs from a trike shop. Make for a nice little winter project.

Yes, but you must reroute the throttle cables, so they come out behind the triple tree.  Notice too that I'm using different cable stays (made for 1 1/4") bars.  The choke cable is pretty tight when the bars are full right!

Those look similar to the oem bars under the saddle bags. If you got'm already, i doubt those will fit.

Saddlebags are Tsukayu's so no OEM rails/guards .... Looking at what I've got to work with for mounting and rigidity they would need to mount basically right under the rear footrests or slightly rearward. I have three days to decide to return and get my $50 back.  If I can I'll bolt it up with one bolt and take a snapshot.

Finally got some photo's to share. I set them up against the rear footrest mounting plate which also acts as the muffler hanger.  It doesn't look like it's going to pan out .... I don't think they're long enough. I set a piece of plywood up against bottom of rear tire to see what touches first. The guards and saddle bags touch pretty much the same time. They might prevent a tip over but it's pretty obvious from the pictures that they would not provide any protection if the bike was laying on it's side.

Also, They would pretty much have to be mounted in the location I have them. Any further towards the rear and they wouldn't have much if any backing support.

It's too bad cause they are like brand new.  What's your opinion ??

Hmmm....Maybe add a spacer to bring them out? Not sure. I think when my bike lays over there is a minimal amount of space between the ground and saddle bag. I do have a few scratches on the bottom of the bag from a tip over. Maybe lay bike over then place the bag on its mounts and see.

Maybe leave the bolt you have mounted and swing the guard towards the back and add a steel plate to mount it to. It would be back closer to the bag.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe some chrome sockets with longer bolts. I used some chrome sockets once to make some risers for a VTX  Grin

I see a lot of HD's stranded alongside the road here...nah, THAT'S not nice!!

Try this - I have quite a few friends with HD's. I like the looks of the bars a lot, and I've thought about measuring all I see, when the weather changes, to see if I can come close to matching something up. Of course, with MY luck, the best fit will be off a '58!! I'm leaning towards making sure the top fits, the length is fairly close, then making a stainless steel "whatever I need" to mount the bottom, and polish the heck out of it. I've done quite a few stainless mounts/brackets/etc. in the past, and they can be quite nice. Where there's a will, there's a way...

I'd be REAL appreciative if you'd share the results of your search. I did a little search on my own on the web and found these .... They are for a Softail Deluxe.

Thing is, there are lot of them on ebay like new for fairly cheap. If you do have a mishap it would be a lot easier to replace than Valkyrie OEM.

More than happy to! I want a set badly enough, I WILL figure out something. I plan to take a bunch of measurements of the Valk, and maybe even mock-up something to carry with me. Hopefully, as you mentioned, it will be something readily available, and easily modified. But regardless, I'll have a set, somehow, someway! I have my Valk just about how I want it - have my trailer hitch, bags, and rails. The only other thing I'd REALLY like to get, is the rail around the seat, when you set it up solo - I already have the rear fender rack (yeah, I'M the one who pay the gazillion bucks!), so there are really only a couple things left I plan to get. And guards for the front of the bags, is top of the list.

Brought back the 1800 guards to the trike shop to get a refund and they happened to have some take off's from a 1500 GW (like new) out back.  Brought those home and sit them on the bike and looks like they just might work without too much modification. They are long enough and fit in more with the lines of the frame. Have 30 days to decide to keep them. These should be pretty easy to acquire with 13 years of the 1500 Goldwings !!

One thing I forgot to mention in why I'm leaning towards the GW guards (at least with Tsukayu bags) is that with the vertical type saddlebag guards you might get some complaints from the passenger with inadequate legroom. I'm already hearing from the wifey that the back of her leg is rubbing on the hinge of the saddlebags .... by adding a vertical type of guard would only elevate the complaint factor if you know what I mean.

Yeah, just haven't come up with the "BikeBucks" yet, for it. Just got my Air Wings, and rear fender rack, and grab bar. the seat rail is one of the next things, I hope.

They make a seat rail for a HD Heritage softail. Might fit. I even, I think, saw some with a 'V' in the back.
