Do another 250 miles before noon tomorrow and you'll have a BB1500 too.

Not sure if I wanna go that far south yet on my way back. I am leaving Orlando on Thursday an prolly take about 3 day to get back. On Saturday I should be in the neighborhood or at least getting closer. I'll give ya a call.

That was really cool TJ. I wish I had intercepted you when you came through and rode a ways with you. I hope to do one some day. When will you come back through? If you have time stop by.

Matt, when I was riding thru Kilgore around 3-4 am it was nasty weather. Raining pretty hard, road was very slippery and 37. I would not have started had it been like that in Dublin. On my way back I am avoiding the Interstates as much as possible and taking the southerly route.

Nice report and ride. Great job cooldude I just wish I could do something like that without my feet hurting from being diabetic. Sad

I have been wanting to do an IB for 4-5 years and I am very glad that I finally did it. Not really sure how being a diabetic would effect your feet, must have something to do with poor blood circulation. A few thing I did in preparation for the ride besides getting the bike ready:
Started getting up at 4:30 in the morning and going to bed earlier to chance my internal clock. It helped.
I have been walking 2.5 miles each day.
Started taking my vitamin supplements.
Read somewhere that orange juice provides glucose for the brain to keep you alert. So I loaded up 5 oranges for the trip and eat one every 200-300 miles. I really liked that part it works for me and besides that I like fruit anyway.
I stayed away from stimulants and candy. All of it came together and worked .....yeeha..

Thanks everyone!  cooldude cooldude

Well thought out ride - great preparation, research, etc.  You might even get the mileage paid for since you were going to a meeting!

Be safe on the trip back.   Take the time to smell the roses since you have that IB out of the way.

TJ,

When I did my Iron Butt ride to Ocala, Florida this past September, I had perfect weather all the way and made good time. I was trying to do an Iron Butt ride coming home from Florida but I ran into too much rain. It rained on me in every state that I rode through on the way back and I finally called it quits and got a hotel room in LA. at about 2:30AM. I got up at about 7:30AM and finished the ride. It rained so hard at times that I did not feel safe on the bike because I just couldn't see. Good luck on your trip home.       cooldude

Ride report,
I stopped at the Missisipi welcome station and I had to think of Rocketman because  next to it it had something to do with NASA and rockets test site. I sounded very interesting but I didn't have time to go check it out this time.

Yeah, that's Michoud (Stennis).  They build the Space Shuttle Main Engines there.  Cool place to go, especially if they're testing some engines.  However, I don't know whether they allow public viewing of the tests.

Glad to hear that your ride went well.  Piece of cake, right?
(:
Great job, TJ.  Gotta love forcing a dull business trip to turn into a good ride.

I am in Crowley, LA as I post post this. My plans for the return trip changed quite  a bit. Friday morning after I checked the weather report I decided I might as well make a B-line for the casa, the weather in the south is not getting any better. I started in a little town NW of Daytona Beach, FL called Bunnell and stayed as far south as possible. Came back tru your town around 2. A lot of rain in the Sun Shine state yesterday. It's 27 deg here and I am waiting for it to warm up a bit. The rest of the trip supposed to be nice with temp in the upper 50's. TJ

Found this before I got to Lake Charles (My Money Shot)

Left Lake Charles at about 11am after a wonderful visit and breakfast with Hard6 and his wife Mary. By this time it's in the mid 40's.

Sorry Hoghead, way to cold for me  Grin I decided to stay on I-10 a little longer and make a sweep tru south east Texas as to avoid the lingering cold front that was moving east. Turned out to be a good choice as it got to 65+ Fdeg.

Met briefly with a new Valkyrie rider named Jim. He rides a '97 yellow and black and is from Houston area. Pointed him towards to Texas VRCC. He said he would  and maybe he will chime in. Took this picture just before we met.
Anybody know which lake this is?
