Arizona has a concealed weapon law allowing anyone with a gun to carry it openly without a special permit.

WTF?  ???

The Illinois legislature just increased the personal income tax rate by 67%.  I don't think they'll be doing anything soon to expand the taxpayers' gun-toting rights.  That is, unless they can find something in it for themselves.   tickedoff

I think a reporter got confused and crossed open carry and Constitutional carry... Arizona has both...

Open Carry - If you can legally own, you can legally carry it openly. Many states have this, although it isn't often used, and some jurisdictions will nail you for things like disturbing the peace by exercising the right.

Constitutional Carry (Or "2nd Amendment IS my license") states - Three states now have this as the law of the land, Alaska, Arizona and Vermont. Basically, if you're legally able to own a handgun, you can legally carry it concealed with no license in these states.

That's true Fudgie, just a real pain in the a$$ to try...

We've had folks do just that, carry, open, on the hip, while cutting their grass, or while stopping in at Culvers for a burger.  Next thing ya know, someone drops a dime, and the cops show up.  They take the gun, and write a ticket (disturbing the peace, or something like that).  Gun owner goes to court, and everything is thrown out (thanks to our AG, that is in support of open and CC).

Seems like a lotta BS to do something legal  tickedoff

I have open carried since spring. Never a problem. Even do it around home, but I live in the country. In the summer i always have my rifle close by. Mostly to shoot Starlings.  Evil

I think most 'disturb the peace' is a ploy to they use. It would be hard to prove unless there are actually someone running amuck cause I had a gun. I have read alot of stories about open carriers getting stopped. Most cops dont realize its legal. Infact MI post a bulliton on the State police post about it since cops were stopping so many that they did not realize its legal. Most of the cops (Ind) I talk to realize it and never bother anyone.
I have learned alot on the www.opencarry.org site. More then I thought i could ever learn.  crazy2

Actually according to my Conceled Carry Permit Class, Tennessee is really not a conceled carry law

as such.

It is actually legal to carry mine in plain view(FREEDOM TO BEAR ARMS) but he said if your smart

you won't.

Case in point, one of the Gun Store Managers at Cole Creek Arms, without thinking walked into

Walmart with a Pistol visible on a belt holster and the Police were called.

He was spread eagle facing the wall in about 10 minutes at the store.

Of course it did not result in a arrest or a charge of any kind, but you see it does rasie a few

eyebrows if you are not part of the Law Enforcement Community and carry your gun in plain view.

Correct- Tenn. Code Ann. § 39-17-1351, nor any other statute governing the
carrying of firearms, requires the holder of a handgun carry permit to carry the handgun in a
concealed manner.

Yes but 99% of the time only a law abiding individual will oc a handgun.  Wink
It is also ilegal to be stopped just to verify you have a permit.  Smiley

yes there is hope because we need more guns on the street, not fewer. and they will be in the hands of competent law abiding citizens.  where concealed carry is up crime is down, where CC is not allowed crime is up. why? criminals don't want to get shot while doing thier job of robbing you. 2funny

Chicago politics drive the entire state.  If it weren’t for that massive influence, Illinois would also have CCW laws.

While Illinois may be the only State to not have a concealed weapons permit law (and I don't know if that's true), the fact remains there are still a number of States that may technically have permit laws/procedures, but Joe Solid Citizen has little to no chance of actually getting a permit.  Any State that does not have the "shall issue, unless barred by law" can be difficult to impossible for the regular guy to get a permit, though he has no barrs to a permit.  Those are specifically, CA, NY, MA, DE, MD,NJ, RI
