OK, so SmokinJoe calls me and says "you goin to Cheaha with us"? And I'm like, what is it anyway. So after the explanation, whereabouts, date, etc. I do some searching and find the location and phone number for Cheaha State Park. To my dismay, they are out of rooms for the Valk group (they do have a few cabins) so I had them put my name on a waiting list. Cross your fingers and toes and hopefully I will get a room for this first ever for me trip to this "Home Sweet Alabama" gathering. I think I will take some "Apple Pie" if I get to go! Dubs

These old bones have spent many nights under the stars in many countries, and I do still like to camp (I have a two man tent) I would like to be close to the group in the lodge if possible. Besides, after spending 7 or 8 hours in the saddle following The Wild Bunch, I will be ready for some comfortable relaxation! Dubs

Valkernaut, I don't follow you on your post. I am close to my Creator and I try to live by His rules but I don't know who the governor is. Dubs

Dubs you may want to modify your post to say Sweet Home Alabama.
Someone may get the idea you are from West Virginia.LOL
Just a thought.
Sounds like they elected a real dousy to run the state of Alabama.
I hope he straightens up for their sake anyway.

Thanks for the correction Big Al! As for the governor, sorry, I didn't keep up with Alabama's election or who was running. Yes, I'm a West Virginia Hillbilly born and bred and now a Tennessian at heart, but I was satationed in Alabama and Brody Croyle is a cousin to my wife. So I do have a soft spot in my heart for Sweet Home Alabama! Dubs

I just called Cheaha State Park back and asked if they had any rooms left for the Valkyrie rally and was told they did not but had a few cabins. I said are you sure that the block of rooms reserved for the Valkyrie rally are all gone. She said she would look; came back and said that they still had rooms avialable in the block reserved for us. I'm thinking, wasn't that what I was asking for the first time? But I was nice and told her that I would like one ofr them. The young lady was very nice the whole time but is completely out of touch with what she is doing; or I may be expecting too much! Dubs

You're not expecting too much. Same thing happened to me last year. I called three different times (all in a short time span) and got three different answers as to availability. My .02 - if you call and hear something you don't want to hear, call back in five minutes. Chances are you'll hear what you want to hear then.

Kaiser, I know what you mean. If Wimp hadn't called me and told me I should check again, I would still be waiting and wondering if I would get a room. Now I don't have to worry about sleeping in no tent! Woo Hoo!
Oh, by the way, I called SmokinJoe this morning expecting him to be on the road somewhere hauling some big piece of Cat equipment across the country. Come to find out he was at home cleaning on a bike. I asked him what he was up to and he said he was getting ready to go for a ride---the dog! Here we have my friend with one of these government type jobs that we are paying for and he is playing while we work! Good on you Joe! Dubs

Looks like Joe got in a nice ride today looking at his other thread. Now we have snow moving in for tomorrow. I hope its melts quick so I can get a ride in this weekend. Sunday maybe! This will be a great week if I can ride this weekend. Got a fender rack for the Valk installed, got a room for Cheaha and a weekend ride would be icing on the cake! Dubs

Its not funny! Dropped Kit off at the out house and thought I could flip around through camp ground and get to the tent. Well that did work out so I had to do the loop. Park guy in a van stopped and yelled at me then the park ranger stopped and chewed my arse out. No ticket tho.
