On June 13, 1986, the Chicago Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home Parade became the largest parade of its kind in the history of America. Over 200,000 veterans and their families marched proudly down the streets of Chicago to the applause of over 300,000 spectators. It was an emotional and inspirational day designed to be a healing celebration. If you were there you will never forget it.

Heard on a ride with a bunch of Vietnam Vets, they never heard "Thanks for your service!" Try and thank one every chance I get.

The first (And only, that I know of) time I've been on national TV... I was somewhere between 6-9 months old we think, sitting on my dad's shoulders waving American flags welcoming a plane load of Vietnam vets home to American soil (This woulda been 1972 or 1973).
From the way it was described to me by my family, the story was that him and I were the only people there welcoming the troops home... And video of that made the national news that night...
Very sad...
Might sound silly after so many years have passed, but to any vets, Vietnam, Korea, Grenada, doesn't matter, or even those that served in peace time, this very grateful Air Force brat says
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!
