Today was my last day at work. I've worked there 17 1/2 years and it was strange walking out for the last time today. I've had a month to prepare and now I'm starting a new phase in my life. Noah(Cowbell) and I are going to travel some this summer and just enjoy the time. Noah is growing up fast and in a couple years he'll be leaving the nest. I appreciate everyone's support during this and Steve's death, you all are a great group.

I like your plan on traveling with Noah this summer. Great oppurtunity to spend some time together and see some of this big ole world. I hope you two have a great summer together. And as for this being a great group of people..... I must agree with ya. I know I'm proud to be a part of it.

In your travels, make sure ya stop and see what ya want and don't bypass something you might want to of seen......
For 2 years my youngest daughter and I traveled every summer. Took us that long to get her into all the lower 48 and to Alaska on the bike.
Always told her to holler if she saw something she wanted to stop and see. Explained to her, that it made no difference if we made a 1/2 mile or 700 miles in a day. We were there to see things.
First few weeks she wouldn't say nothing, then she started saying let's stop here. That trip instead of going around in a big circle, we went East, and came back West on the same roads as she went by things she wanted to see and didn't want to ruin my day by stopping. Man did her brother give he an arse whompin verbally out in Maryland when we called home, and she made a comment, I wish I'd of said stop at so & so dad. That was the reason we came back the same road. We did a lot of stopping and ended up 3 more days on the road back than out.
Would I do it over with my 3 youngest kids, you betcha... The older 2 really didn't like motors. They both saw dad after his 1st bad spill on an CHP bike. Was off work for about 6 months, and at full pay.......
After that, hey, stop here..... and we did.........

I'm sure if you let folks know your plans, you'll pick up a few places to stay along the way, and pointers on what to see in the area too.

Thanks everyone. Most kids wouldn't ask a parent to spend the summer with them but then again I got blessed. Noah has always been very mature but he's done alot of growing up the past 9 1/2 months. I'm amazed at the talks we have and the knowledge he has. But on the flip side I always have to tell him 10 times to take the trash out! Guess I can't have it all!

the time you share this summer will stick with you for the rest of your life. When my kids were little and we lost their daddy, I was able to take a year off from work, so I could be a full time mom. Even though it was a rough time, it is also a time that I will always cherish, because I was able to spend more time with the kids and get more involved in their school, be a room mother, Cub Scout leader, Girl Scout Leader, we spent almost everyday at the swimming pool. If I would have been able to afford it, I never would have gone back to work!

Road trips with kids are fun. I took all 3 of my sons on trips before they went into high school. Lots of memories. My wife and youngest son are in California right now, he spring break.
Wishing you safe travels this summer. Enjoy.
