Cheesy It must be a '97 manufactured in '96.  Cheesy

I was going through the Valkyrie Genealogy by RP in Shoptalk and trying to determine when my '97 black Tourer was manufactured. According to RP's calculations, the last 6 digits of my VIN are 000098 and this would indicate that it was the 98th to roll off the line by Oct '96.

Has anyone got a lower number??  I don't think you can compare the numbers between the Interstate or Standard to the Tourer, but what do I know.  ???

I beieve Crash has the lowest number here.  I think it's 12... but I'm not betting anything on that.
It's a black standard.

Yours would have been the 98 Std to roll off the line in that model year.

You are correct, the tourer and IS each started at 01 each model year, for each model.

So, there is a 01 VIN for a std, and a 01 for a tourer, and a 01 for an IS, each in the same model year.

That's what it seemed reading RP's Genealogy, except mine is Tourer.  See those hard bags and windshield?  2funny  (plus I can read the word Tourer right between the chrome on the bags so I'm convinced  Cheesy  laugh)

Here's the lowest numbers I've seen:

1HFSC3406VA000006 - a red & white standard I saw on Ebay 10/07
1HFSC3438VA000003 - a green & cream tourer sent to me by a member who purchased it from a Honda employee
1HFSC4101XA000007 - a black interstate I saw at the CW bike show at the IX in Cleveland in 1/99

(of the non-Calif US models anyway)

Crash said he wasn't able to log in here... we'll have to look into that.
Anyway, I was off a bit, here's his email:

My bike was first day of Manufacture 4/06 #1HFSC341XVA000034. Only 75 bikes were built that day and I 'obviously' am the original owner.
Actually saw #6 & #7 in Pomona at fairgrounds a red & white and a black and yellow like Lamont's Bumble Bee, they were test bikes strictly for the press and demo's.

I guess I can install the IS hardbags I got awhile back now that I know she's a tourer and not a standard. Thanks Dude Grin.  She still has a low production number.

Hey RP#62, I used to live in Gila Bend... Wow, I sure miss the desert. It has a lot more depth than it seems at first! I want to get back there and around Page area as soon as I can. My SO hasn't ever been to that part of the country. I am afraid that a short trip isn't enough for most people to appreciate all that the desert has to offer.

We love to go hiking out across the desert.  People don't realize how lush the Sonoran desert is, well for a desert anyway.

That would be Jim & Linda McMillen, very nice people! They had Great Danes in the store that loved to mingle with the customers. Jims  Valkyrie was named Bravehart, after the movie. It had a super nice custom paint job with a cutie warrier on the tank., . They closed the shop several years ago ,and last time I went by ,it was still empty and for sale

OK this was interesting.  f6gal's post of Crash's #34 Standard says his was made on 1st day in 4/06.

Crazyhorse's VIN indicates #33 Tourer (but looks like Standard)

Evil Twin Lisa posts that Larry's is #41.  Pic looks like Standard or Tourer with aftermaket windshield.

Dino in with #43 Tourer.

I know there are others out there without posts, but my #98 1997 Tourer seems to be among the oldest.  Hard to believe since it runs so great and looks the same.

I ran into a guy at Birch Run (big shopper center area) near Flint, Michigan 3 years ago. We had just left Tony’s restaurant (another story, another time.) He pulled up next to my Valkyrie in a brand new Mini-Cooper. Anyway, we had a nice talk and he even had me sit in his Cooper (my wife wants one, but I didn’t think I could fit in the little thing.) During the course of our conversation he told me he had one of the FIRST 100 Valks made AND they were ALL (the first 100) ‘hand assembled’. . . . I had never heard that before and never seen that posted here. I was wondering if that was correct?

If I understand all this --- I guess that makes me #106!  No matter she's my girl & I'm in love!!   cooldude

1HFSC3419VA000106

I bought my girl from F6Gal in August 2005 -- and I certainly didn't realize just how much I'd grow to love her --- but I'm sold heart & soul.  I thank Kendall on a regular basis for talking me into buying a Valk and giving me the faith in myself to ride.

This is an old picture --- she's got a lot more chrome & accessories since I took this --- plus (once I get her back from BigBF the first of next week) I'm just about 270 miles from having a BRAND NEW VALK!  Woohooo!!

I'm definately Obessed!
