I'm in the market for a small handgun, .380, to carry in my boot (dont wear tennis shoes), or my pocket. Need it when I go into places that really dont allow firearms, dress up (not offen), or when I wear my bibs. You know, places where having it on my hip openly probally is not a good idea. I have stuck my Bersa + in my boot a few times and gets a little achey on my leg when I wear my cowboy boots. I looked at a Taurus TCP and a Rugar LCP. They were more then what I could get a Bersa CC model for, which is smaller in width & capacity then what I got now. Thought about a small revolver to. Whats your opinions on the above or in general.

Probally get flamed for taking it where its not allowed but so be it. No one elses job to protect me then myself.  Evil

+1   on Keltec P3- AT  .380   Get it with the spring clip on side, and it fits in pocket and nobody will ever even suspect you've got it on you.  And I've hit a man-size target at 20 yds.  You'll probably be a lot closer than that if/when you need it.

My P3AT is remarkably accurate for it's size and has been flawless with Speer Lawman ammo.

32 Baretta Flip Barrel. Is what a friend of mine carries.

I have a .22 long Baretta Bobcat, but do not reccomend it due to the fact it is rimfire.

You know you can just carry a pocket gun in your pocket.

I like this one.

.32 ammo is easy to get and is less expensive than .380 mo

Metal Frame is way cool these days.

I have an (uncle mikes?) inside the waistband type, left hand holster sewn into the outboard side of my left boot. I carry a KelTec 380 in it quite comfortably. The holster has a belt clip on it which allowed me to stick it in my boot and experiment with the right position before I finalized it by sewing it in so it stays there no matter what. I carried it thus on my trip West last year for 9 days and 5000 miles. (Except through Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois when it was locked in my saddle bag with the ammo in the opposite bag.)

My KelTec jammed on a regular basis, although it was accurate when I first bought it. I had the dealer send it back to the factory for a free repair, now it's still accurate (for what it is) and doesn't jam. They had it about 4 weeks.

Fudgie, depends how much money you want to spend.  My brother just got rid of his Keltec cause it had a tendency to jam no matter what kind of ammo he tried.  He picked up a sig 238 which is patterened after the colt mustang.  Both the Colt and Sig are sweet pistols but cost more than the keltec.  But you get what you pay for, as they are metal frames.

Fudge;  Kel-Tec P3At w/ right or left clip works really well in any pull up western style or Gear Jammer type shank boot.  You can also wear the P3At w/ the Kel-Tec Lanyard around your neck.

The P3AT goes well in a pants pocket even w/ the beltclip attached.  It can be covered by a folded dollar bill.

Kel-tecs work exactly as they were designed; not very comfortable for plinking, but really easy to conceal and very reliable.

I've purchased P3ATs but can't keep them in the house.  All the rest of the family seems to have one at this point.  Maybe I'll get to hold onto the latest.

anyone can hit the fnsmoak facebook page for comparison for a few arms against the Kel-Tec P-11.

Ruger 380 is the best CC that I have ever owned. It fits anywhere, back pocket, boot, coat pocket, etc. I target practice with it often at a distance of 35 feet; probably wouldn't want to use it at further distances. I have a feeling that I wouldn't need to use it any further than that.

When you really dont have much room , a great lil gun is the NAA  (North American Arms) black widow in 22mag. They also make some smaller than the Black Widow.

+1 on the 22 mag. Read up on the ballistics of that vs a 25 or even 32, you'll be surprised. You can get a LaserLyte for the NA 22 mag now also. 5shots, fits anywhere.

I alternate between a Kahr P380 in a kydex pocket holster and a S&W Airweight snub also in a kydex pocket holster. The S&W requires a slightly deeper pocket but they are both quite small. The Desantis soft holsters I've tried seemed too bulky for me, and the kydex is about perfect for concealability and support.

I personally had very bad luck with a Keltec .380 3AT.  I ran 200 rounds through it . Finally it quit having various malfunctions but I didn't trust it .  Yes, it was a 2nd iteration, supposedly with all the extractor, etc problems fixed. I traded it in for a Bersa Thunder .380 reliable but bigger.   Try the Ruger .380.  My son Mark says it works fine.

Another VERY small gun to consider is the LAA black Widow.  I have one with both the .22 RF and .22 Mag.  Very accurate for its size, RELIABLE, and has great workmanship. Obviously also only 5 shot and the caliber is no powerhouse.

Yeah, I'm an old fart so I'm not supposed to know the latest but I've been in the shooting sports for a long time.  I started shooting in competition with a Colt Woodsman back in 06 (actually in 1946)

While I'm on this subject, i note with a grin, that , invariably, when someone here asks about a concealed carry firearm with summer clothes,  the calibers get bigger and bigger until a heavy overcoat and heavy duty suspenders are accessories needed to carry concealed.  Jes jokin' but flame away. Hey Brian,

Everything already said is food for thought, especially what Mark wrote.  That being said, yer already a Bersa owner, know the dependability, know the quality...  Give the BT380CC another look.

It is considerably smaller than the standard BT380 (somewhere between that and a LCP, in size), and it has been 'shaved' down, for easy carry.  8 + 1 loaded with Corbon DPX, should be all ya need if the $hit hits the fan...  Being from one of the two states that does not allow CC, my comments here are only speculation (  Wink )...

That CC is high on my list. Held it last night against my +, it is slimmer and lighter. For the price I cant go wrong. I may do it. I'm also gonna buy some DPX today to. Read all the reviews on them last shift.
The LCP & TCP just didnt seem to have the quality of the Bersa's. TCP's barrel was loose when racked back. My partner hates her hubbies LCP and she has small hands. Gonna look into the Kel-tec and see.

Thx guys for the help! Dont want to spend alot since it will only get used a few times. Cant do the IWB or fanny pack holsters. If I did this I might as well carry what I got on my left hip. I OC & CC depending on where I go and what I wear.

If you're considering the Kel Tec P3AT or Ruger LCP, you might consider the Diamondback DB380.  http://diamondbackfirearms.com/

One of our brothers just got one and I shot it and his Kel Tec last weekend.  For me, it had less bite than the KT and was more comfortable to hold and shoot.  YMMV

As with many of the pocket 380s, the early series were finicky to problematic.  Specifically, numbers in the ZA, ZB, and ZC (up to around 3000) series.  The advice from the factory was that ZC3000 and up or anything ZD should be fine.

He got his DB380 for $297.00 plus TT&L.

I carry the CC380 Thunder by Bersa and use Corbon DPX for deep penetration.

The rounds hold up with almost 100% weight retention when shooting through plywood,

Glass or Metal, like on a car door.

Police love that last part about staying together through stuff.

A .380 DPX round when fired into a solid object will flare out to the diameter of a penny.

About .600 thousands of a inch.

That's huge and will do the cutting that will bleed out an attacker quickly.

Stopping action.

It soups up about any gun they are used in .

Bought about 650 dollars worth of these things.

9mm, .40 caliber, and of course .380

Thanks for the inspiration! After work today, I hit my secret stash of cash and hopped on the Valk, riding to several gun stores near me...

After several misses, found the NAA .22 Magnum Pug with night sights for only $225 (Used, but looks brand new). That's almost $100 off the new price of that one with the night sights, so I had to jump on that deal...

Hopefully I can get out to the land soon to try it out...

Another nice thing about the NAA minis if you're into name recognition, they were designed by Dick Casull... The same Dick Casull that made the .454 Casull... Kinda funny, going both biggest and smallest in single action revolvers...

Gonna call a local guy in the morning to see what kinda price i can get the DPX at. Been using Golden Sabors at 102 gr they blow holes in stuff I shoot at. But being a small gr bullet, with the ammo jug/denim test I read about, I'm getting the DPX's.  cooldude

I like my KelTec PF9

http://www.keltecweapons.com/our-guns/pistols/pf-9/

It is the same size as black dogs 380 I set the PF9 on top of his 380 one day and they were almost identical in size, and it is a 9MM. It is advertised as the  lightest, and narrowest 9mm made PLUS, it is made in the USA.

$278.00 shipped to my FFl dealer.

...I have a couple of small carry weapons ...the LCP works best for me...if you plan on an ankle carry remember weight is an issue ...a heavier weapon will slide and become uncomfortable most people will look for a weapon around 10oz...the lighter the better...but a lighter weight gun also has a tendency to not only kick like a mule but the accuracy is sometime difficult...you must shoot it alot to get good with it.. cooldude

I have the 22Mag Mini  Revolver.... tiny gun.... would like to get the Buckle for it.  It is a last ditch belly gun tho... and a painful sucker to shoot.   I don't shoot it all that often, and I don't carry it all that often either.... but it will tuck in a boot or sock really easy.
