About how many miles can I get out of the front springs and the stock rear shocks before I need to swapp them out .... I have a 98 standard with about 62,000 miles on the clock .... and what symtoms will I be looking for in each ? Thanks Old Geezer Richard

I picked up a '97 Std in 2004...my 2nd Valk. It had 37,000 miles. Small bumps in the road made the front end just hammer. After checking things out, the rear shocks weren't giving. The front was taking all the shock. I put Progressive 412 shocks on the rear and it rides like a dream.
Now for the front springs. I had Progressive springs put in the front of my 2000 I/S in 2002...only because so many people on this site raved about how good they were. Well, I had my Honda dealer install them. I don't know if it was done right or if they put too much or not enough oil in the forks. I need to change seals on that bike soon. When I dig into it, I will check to see if they have the proper amount of oil. If they do, the original springs are going back in.

Hey Steve , thanks for the jingle .... right now when I go into a curve and leaning and the road has some imperfections in it , it feels like a pogo stick .... the front and rear suspension don't feel like its one unit .... it feels like a delayed dampening and not working together .... so I'm figuring at 61,000 miles plus these oem shocks have had it and the front seems to bottom out going down a hill and going over a low water crossing , no dampening much at all ..... but on the street l it works ok no Cadillac ride so to speak from my point , my mechanic friend says that the front springs are like the rear in that they ain't going to last forever and going with the progessive springs on the front and rear are the way to go especially when me and my honey ride two up .... alot of bottoming out and I have the rears set at the fourth setting up ... so it looks like the writing on the wall .... Thanks Old Geezer Richard
