Several years ago when I was still a new rider a neighbor gave me a gift certificate to a leather shop in Myrtle Beach, SC. I had just bought my favorite jacket and did not need anything else, but an excuse to ride to the beach is an excuse to ride to the beach.
I picked up a leather tie and a perforated jacket.   The leather tie I have worn occasionally over the years. The perforated jacket I probably haven’t worn three times.
My wife mentioned it the other day, still hanging in the closest. It was warming up, so I thought it would be a good day to put on that jacket and really try it out. I started wearing it on the warm days. It still fits like a glove and looks good. Doesn’t get to hot when I ride. Nice.  Comfortable even when I get off the bike. Nice.
It is a surprise that I have never worn this jacket more than I have. It is not a surprise that it was the jacket hanging by the door this morning. I grabbed it, and pulled it on as I headed out the door. Turns out this morning is unseasonably cold, less than 40 degrees with a wind chill that will make your bones ache.  Not the right day for a jacket that is the leather equivalent of Swiss cheese.  Oh well. I made it.

This afternoon will warm up and a breezy light leather jacket will make a lot more sense and I will enjoy the new old jacket that I found in my closet.

I have a perforated Vanson jacket, but I can't make myself wear it in the summer.

I got it the at the Honda shop the same day I bought my Harley in 1998. I guess I walked
passed a bunch of Valkyries to get to the jacket, but I didn't know what Valkyries
were then. I could have saved a load of cash just getting the Valkyrie in the first place!  tickedoff

I have since gotten a vented Joe Rocket jacket with a liner. I wear it all year, winter or
summer. A couple of layers of silk (or electric vest on cold days) is good for winter rides,
a Tee shirt and the jacket is bearable on hot summer rides.
