I would consider Scully, Spock and Fonzie NOT supporting characters.  Just my opinion here.

The Gilligan's island crew... they were ALL supporting characters.

Like Joey Tribiani on Friends.

Ed Norton.  Yeah.  No doubt there.

And I still laugh at Tim Conway and Harvey Corman.

I see several in the lists that I would nominate.   Kato - The Green Hornet, Festus - Gunsmoke, Heyboy - Paladin, The Robot - Lost in Space, etc.

I like old tv and radio shows,  I would add Rochester - The Jack Benny Show

Will have to think about some others..

Stanley, you are right on with most things  cooldude, but you missed the music by a couple of decades Wink.  I have found that most people hold dear the music they come across in their teens and early 20's.  Although in your time frame, GnR and, a little later, Pearl Jam lit it up again for me  Cheesy.

And now to add to the original post:

Missus uh Wiggins to Mr. Tudball (Carol Burnett)
Herman's family-Lily, Grandpa, Eddie, and the Marilyns (The Munsters)
Mindy to Mork (Mork and Mindy)
