Our neighborhood water has been out since 3:00AM.  My wife called me around 9:15AM to let me know that the Electricity went out.  Will stop by my warehouse on the way home tonight and pick up my 20KW generator...just in case!

Already happened twice here in the clinic this morning.  Not too bad unless you are doing electric muscle stimulation on a patient.  Kinda hard to duplicate that one without power.  Oh well, I'm sure ONCOR will reimburse me for the lost income (yeah, right)!

My mom in east Fort Worth got hit for an hour early.  My sister-in-law was out for 35 minutes in Colleyville.  So far, nothing here 2 miles from the stadium in Arlington.  I kinda' think they may not take us out because of the proximity to JerryWorld.

The only thing I worry about is the pool pump - it has to run continuously due to all the pipes being exposed at the filter/pump pad.

Good luck to all - stay warm!

well I know I'm going to be totally screwed now but we haven't lost power yet. I'm not quite sure what to do to winterize. I had Alex take the hoses off the water spigets and he wrapped the exposed pipes. We're good so far. Rog is in Europe till Friday. I hope his jet can land here.

Woke up to power out just a 6-ish.  Managed to find the Coleman out in the garage and make a cup of instant... took a shower by candle light.  kind romantic except it was just me there...

Danged school district says school is open!  Just try teaching Webmastery, AutoCAD and Technology with the power and servers fritzing out every few minutes. Educationally today was a complete loss...

Sheesh... we should all just go home and make chili and cornbread.

I turn the spigots on just a trickle.  As long as some water is dripping out, I know my pipes aren't frozen.

Lost it at 6:50 a.m. while brushing my teeth (after the shower)...  finished the teeth, got dressed and went out and checked the breakers... none tripped!  Well, reset them all and went back in the house.  Still no lights.  Got ready for work, but didn't leave.  Turned on the local radio station on my iPhone (IHeartRadio) and heard about the rolling "brown outs".  Even that statement is PC nowadays.

Anyway, I stayed at home until the lights came back on, a little over an hour.  That way I knew I was part of the brown outs and didn't have a transformer problem.  Without electricity, the pipes would surely freeze in the cold house....

Good thing the Super Bowl is being held in the Southern climate, huh??!!

We have been working since 5:30 this morning. These blackouts suck for dairyman.  We sold more electrical contactors and coils today than normally in 2 months. Frozen water lines, burned up electrical motors, locked up pumps, Most are running generators that use 25 gallon/hours 24 hours a day untill blackouts stop.

Cows have to be milked no matter what! The milk transport has come to a halt mostly due to the weather. They are able to get milk picked up at the dairies but now they can't get the milk to the processors.  Right now there are 50 tankers sitting in the yard with no place to go. Each with 50000 lbs of milk. That's 2.5 million ponds of milk. There is no shortage of excitement this week. TJ

We are only having transformer outages here. Electrical loads are high. Downtown Amarillo lost partial grid for hour today. West side of town (our office) blinked but no server blips. Our regulated company cannot charge for replacing old or overloaded transformers until they go out.  So stuff runs to failure and then replaced.

No blackouts yet in North Central Arlington.  I am now convinced my neighborhood is on the same extension cord as the stadium.

No blackouts in Allen either.

My daughter was without power in Plano for over seven hours yesterday, she, and lots of her neighbors, spent a lot of time sitting in their cars with their heaters running yesterday.

Good thing.... lose power... no water well.... water stops dripping... and the pipes freeze.  Our heater works without power.... so I had things ready to run the well with the generator.

Good deal Mr. Glue...  We lost power a few times yesterday, the last one was around 1 p.m.  I could tell the time because the clocks were all flashing 4:45 and it was 5:45 when I arrived...

Ours was about an hour at a time.
