I am looking for the Harbor freight coupon in a motorcycle magazine jan or feb. For the price advertised I will get one of those cheap ones.\
I would trade you a copy of the Valkyrie manual on cd, or CBX, or 2009HD GM's, AC tractors, many others.

I am interested in the 1000# lift. A while back I was looking at the portable bike lifts and most reviews I saw put sears at the bottom, mostly because of no replacement pump/jack parts and a lot of complaints. Of course their could be thousands that never say anything good or bother to review. I have very few tools other than craftsman.

I've had mine ( Sears ) several years still works as good as it did the day I bought it.Most of my ridin' buds around here have Valkyrie's and use the Sears as well with no problems.

I have the harbor freight lift,, going up its great but going down is tricky,,, it uses the pedal now and if you mash it just a touch it drops the bike fast.. you have to mash it fast and hard to let it down slow and then lift up your foot to go fast,, seems backwards to me,,,i dont recommend it,,,alto i do use it,,,get the sears one

I have a good friend who went to HB and bought that same jack 2 weeks ago. It wouldn't let his bike down slowly...just all at once. He took it back and got one like mine at sears, and is very pleased with it.

Are you looking for the Table Lift or the Yellow ATV/Motorcycle Lift??
I had the table lift and didn't feel comfortable with either of the bikes on it.... and I sold it locally.
I do have 2 of those yellow ATV/MC lifts that work fine, yes there is a little issue with the bike coming down fast on occasion. However, I did a slight modification and installed a stop on the pedal so now the bike comes down slow.
I have had other name brand jacks that failed over the years as well. Once a jack bottle fails, it is time to get a whole new jack it seems.
I have a 20%off HF coupon but I think you are looking for a specific coupon..... if not, let me know.

the 1000# lift table has a coupon for 220 off, I do not know if the 20% off can be used with it or not. The 20% is still in magazines.
thanks,Larry

I'm pretty sure I looked at those and was migrating that way, but for $279 (maybe plus a 20% off coupon) it's starting to be a no brainer. I think I can build on that even if it is 300 pounds of scrap metal 40 miles away on the way to one of my favorite restaurants. I've read many reviews of it and satisfy with their comments. It a foot pump is the draw back to me, but that could be altered. Hopefully their will be a show or extravaganza near with a special to grab of a name brand before the coupon expires.
thanks

I have one of the Harbor freight red table lifts. Out of the box there is absolutely no way to use it with a Valk in my opinion. The clamp that is supposed to hold the front wheel and keep the bike upright is useless and at a minimum would take an extra person to secure it before you could get off the bike while on the lift. It would also require straps to secure the bike, and the table is not really wide enough to strap too. IMO, YMMV
If I had it to do again I would quit pinching pennies and buy a high quality table lift like Hotglue and others have done. In my quest to save money on such things in the past I have spent more money, and more importantly blood and sweat than it was ever worth to save a few bucks.

I agree... I had one. I did remove the front wheel clamp and installed a slight extension and a front wheel chock. I think the extension was needed to move the bike forward to facilitate rear wheel removal through the hole in the table. I tried the bikes on it, but it was not very stable and I just couldn't trust it enough to use it by myself.... maybe with someone else in the garage but not likely either. I can do just as much, if not more, using the ATV/MC Lifts I have, and they take up less room in the garage as well (easily slide under a bike or out of the way under a bench). Before I sold that table lift, it was just used as a parking mat (and an awkward one at that). I was very thankful that someone bought it.... and he was right close by as well (which helped). I did keep my steel plate extension and front wheel chock tho..... When I bought it, it was 350 retail and 279 on sale (holiday sale) and I did get to use the coupon for 20% off since the sale price was not coupon dependent. I sold it for 300 since it was still 50 bucks less than retail, so I was very fortunate. Really give that some serious thought and good luck regardless which way you go.

all of the reviews I read alerted me to those items. I already have extra front wheel chock. I very seldom "pinch pennies", but in this case a "few bucks" looks like $400-600 difference. I think I can sell this lift table local if I do not like it and lose no more $50. if not make a profit and then step up if needed. I appreciate your comments and normally do not consider the "bottom" quality/price of anything I buy I'm hoping to come across something of quality "on sale" before I have to commit.
What are the real advantages of a table over a good jack?
I was trying to post this and it looks like you echoed my thoughts and answered a new question !!!!

Scott... Let me start by echoing your comment. I wished I would have spent the extra money on a "sturdier" lift than the one I got at harbor freight. I had no idea how much I would use it. I guess I didn't realize how many folks would trust me with their bikes But, after having this lift for about two years now I feel that it has paid for itself. So, I can't come to grips and say it was a waste of money. I am about to use it again in the next few days to tear down my bikes to do the winter maintenance and get them ready. There are a few accessories I am adding, as well. I had looked at the "cheaper" lifts that HF sells but had decided early on that the one that pinches the tire just on the bottom wouldn't suffice for me to consider it safe. I spent the extra money on the one with the vise that holds the front and bottom of tire. ( I still use straps for safety measure). Here is a few pics.

Stude.... that front Pinch clamp looks different than the one I had. I can't believe you have that out on that uneven driveway and feel comfortable with it. That must be a different one than I had. Does the rear plate remove completely for a clean rear tire removal or not? Bigfish..... real advantages of a table lift over a jack lift (or two)??..... I don't think there is any, but that depends on your requirements... you have to weigh the pros and cons for yourself; like price, space requirements, height etc. I would like a little higher lift... but I think a higher lift over a table would work better for me (less space, lighter, easier to work with and around)... but that's just me. The jacks work well enough for me for how often I need/use them. A higher lift, and table lift require a higher ceiling as well. If I were doing MC repair professionally... I would of course have a table lift and also floor jacks and more tools... and probably a bigger garage....

I'm getting swayed more to the best lift/jack I can get. that seems to be a better fit right now and good for multi purpose
