What is the easiest way to reattach the seat lock cable to the latch assembly?   Anybody know any tricks to get this back together?  I have been working for a couple of hours and am really getting frustrated.
Any help is mucho appreciated.

I had a similar problem last year when I replaced the seat latch cable.
I had great difficulty attaching either the cable to the latch or the latch to the frame. I finally dissasembled the latch, connected the cable ferrle to the latch mechanism, re-assembled the latch, attached the latch to the frame, then used a long needle nose pliers to snap the cable sheath to the mount on the frame. Caution.....to gain the proper access to the latch and the cable sheath mount, you will need to remove the battery to gain that access.

blegh...

I am about resigned to getting the Tourer lock kit from HDL before I get stuck somewhere -
my ignition switch is foo-bared, won't be long before I won't be able to get the key in or
out.

The lock kit appears to have a gas tank lid, an ignition switch, and cylinders for (hopefully) all
the other locks.

I better contact HDL to make sure the bag cylinders are included... I don't want to carry two keys.



I don't look forward to messing with the seat-latch lock...

I´ve got a lock set. It included the cylinders for the bags and the trunk.

Personally, I don't use the latch.  The switch for my four way flashers is in the hole where the lock was and I have removed the cable and attached a very strong and long zip tie to the release mechanism.  I tuck the end of the zip tie up under the seat and to release the seat, just pull the zip tie.

Why did I do this?  I could no longer reach with the key anyway because I have the Hondaline Chrome engine bracket covers and a horn mounted on each side.  Shown in the pic is the horn on the key side, I don't currently have a pic of the other side.



The new board is awesome!

Yea, its a real fun thing to do Cry  Good grief I think Honda designed the cable and latch and then built the bike around it. Evil
Thanks for the hint.  I will need to work on it when I am in a real patient mood or take it to a bike shop and pay someone else.   Or I may do what udo did. Smiley

Momz you da man Grin It is hooked back up.  Man, I gotta tell ya I don't know if I would have ever figured that out, but I did what you did and wooo hooo!!!!!!   Grin it is back together.
