I was stationed in an Army Medical Clearing Company in Korea.  Down the road from us about a half mile was an Air Force Radar Station.  Both companies were north of the 38th parallel and out in the sticks.

The Radar company had an 'extra' 3/4 ton Dodge truck and we had an 'extra' motor generator rig mounted in a trailer. Neither of us were supposed to have these as they weren't part of our inventory.

No problem. When we had an inspection from the brass we were warned by our ambulance company 5 miles from us and we hitched the generator up and ran it down the road to the Air Force radar station.  They did the same by driving their 'extra' truck to our outfit on their inspection days.

yep, you guessed it!  It finally happened. Inspections at both outfits the same day.  A blue 3/4 ton truck kinda stood out among all of our olive drab vehicles in the motor pool as did an olive drab motor generator in an outfit with all blue equipment.

I don't know how our commanding officers explained it but the pilfered 'extra' equipment that we had was taken away and nothing further was said.

I often wondered how our captain and their officer explained that. It must've been some fast talking or...........maybe none at all. Grin Grin Grin

We now return you to RJ and his daily Armed Forces jokes. Keep it up RJ.

That reminds me of one of our episodes with the US Army.

We needed some lumber so as to build some better living quarters after the push stopped on the 38th.

I and 4 others took a 6X and drove over to the Army base, came in from the rear to their lumber pile.

We were loading lumber as fast as out little bodies could move.

Low and behold, here came a set of headlights.   We stopped and waited for them to get to   us.

Out of the Jeep jumped this shave tail Louie.     He asked what we were doing, stealing lumber, I said NO sir, we were told to deliver this load of lumber and this was the only time slot we had open.    We had like 6 or 7 pieces of lumber left on the ground.

He looked through some papers, replied I don't have any information on this load, so you load it right back up and get out of here.      Yes, Sir, we loaded the last few pieces and took off..............      Never to be heard from later.   Always wondered what kind of trouble he got his arse into.....      LOL......

Semper fi, we improvise.

That be a good'un RJ.  More than likely he got his arse in trouble over that.  Second lt's, deserved what they got.
That reminds me of another escapade involving lumber.

After the Truce was signed, our outfit was assigned sick call for 42 companies. We needed lumber for a new NCO club that we wanted to build.  Our company commander, Captain Bigman (he was a doctor that had been drafted), got on the field telephone at 0930 and rang up all 42 companies and told  them that he was going to be required to turn in any names to I Corps, of officers that went on sick call for VD problems.

"Would you have any lumber that you can spare?  was his question.  By mid afternoon, we had all the lumber that we needed. Grin
