What they said... If that isn't enough heat, get a "heat shrink gun" from one of your electronics technician buddies.
Heat will soften the adhesive and let you pull the sticker off. then you can use a solvent (WD-40 should work) to scrub the remaining adhesive off.

Why do some states make you do this? You ought to see what some folks run WITH that. Goo Gone if the heat doesnt work.

yes that sucks. states that make you display it; does it have to go on the fork leg? how about making a plate to stick it on and bolt it on somewhere.
i have to get an inspection, but don't have to display; keep it under the seat

that's cool about just having to have it under your seat. here in texas we're supposed to display it under the license plate.

In Texas they used to pull me over what seemed like weekly to see my inspection sticker in my wallet. Harassment.

Pa used to do that, not sure anymore...it is all about the money...ain't it always? No additional plate, had to be on the fork...so when the police checked inspection stickers they could bang you for being out of date...money money money....
NJ just this year did away with bike inspections...they at least did the sticker on the plate thing....
That is about the only thing this state has done right, well that and elect Christie as governor....

I made aluminum plates, the size of the sticker (VA is identical to the one in the pic), and used the single bolt to the engine guard to mount it right behind the radiator hose in front/left of the timing belt cover. The sticker covers the bolt head. When its time to replace, I leave the month on the plate, and just cut off the new year and stick on top of the expired year. It faces forward but is on the left side of the bike, as is usually required. Similar to this: Bolt 7 in the diagram: Many bike shops in my area sell plates, no reason for chrome.

In Utah and Wyoming you have to get a sticker every year. But there's a convenient place to put it -- on your LICENSE PLATE!

Glad Ken mentioned inspection sticker I have never seen one. How many states require inspections ? Guess I can Google that question.
18 states have a periodic (annual or biannual) safety inspection program, ... On August 1, 2010, New Jersey became the 30th state that does not inspect ... Beginning with 2009 the TÜV test is mandatory for all cars with the ... Heavy trucks and motorcycles must undergo annual inspections from the very first year. ...

Unless you're .. unintelligent, you do not go to a dealer (a few are fanatics (esp with things like extra lights, flashers), and some will fail anything to get the money to repair it on-site), and once you fail it goes on the computer record. So you go to a gas station where almost no one knows a thing about bikes, and the inspection is cursory (there is a book, and it is actually pretty extensive).
For some years, my guy would have me ride in, check the lights, hi/low, signals, hand/foot brake, beep horn, glance at the tires, and we were done. For the last few years, I drive in, we talk about guns, and he fills out the paperwork. He knows I keep them in top shape. There is no inspection, so I view it as a motorcycle tax. There is no bike emissions testing TG.
In VA, the inspector must put the sticker on the left fork facing sideways, unless you already have the inspection plate holder installed on the bike.... they cannot let you leave with it in your hand... people are known to sell them.
