Well I have been messin with the Valk on and off all winter. I went to fire it up and it urns but would not fire.
I think I may have flooded it..
I have pulled the plugs, the look good but are soaked. So off to work for a clean up.

This is what I did that may effect this or may not What say you?
Installed Interstate Carb springs. Install Interstate(used) icu. Mark T pipes and had difficult time re installing the chrome piece around the fuel shut off. I bought one of the stud kits.

Could any of this cause a issue? Everything I did seemed straight forward.
When I pulled the plugs I arked the plug wire and it appears it has spark.

thanks for your thoughts

Did you check the battery ? They can spin the engine but need a good charge to make spark.

or jump it from a non running car.  The voltage when cranking will drop it too low to fire, but will turn over.

A word of caution, if there is any side loading on the fuel selector  it can cause fuel to flow even when in the off position. If there is anything wrong with the diaphragm you have the potential for a hydrolock.
Best to remove the fuel hose from the petcock, turn the valve to the OFF position and apply vacuum to the petcock. If the selector has side load it will pass fuel. If it passes fuel before applying vacuum there is a problem with the diaphragm.
Agree with the others about a low battery, they will crank fairly well but not fire.
Cheers Steve

Wet sparklers won't fire, they can't.. Just blow 'em dry.. Spin the engine over before re-installing them to make the cylinders are dry.. Like the others have said, these monsters need a good battery to start.. If the battery is low they will just spin and there won't be enough electrons left to feed the ignition system.. Smiley

you can usually move the petcock front or rear a little even though it is tight.  That should make it line up better.

update
I have had it on the tender over night. still no fire after installing the new plugs and original icu.

I have a jumper box that was about dead. So I put it on my regular 1 amp charger on and I am charging the jumper box as I post this.

I am so frustrated. I started the bike briefly after installing the Mark T's.  Ran it for a minute or 2.
Then I installed the icu, carb springs and reinstalled the side covers including the center one.

I have been moving slow on the project. Then I go to start it last night and the plugs got fouled and I needed some prozac! lol

Will let it charge for few hours, or probaly til the am.  I have my fingers crossed the it is a low voltage issue.

I know, I know, it's probably not this, but what about the tipover switch? Right side up?

f6rider, where do you live?  What state at least.   City if so inclined and you're not on the wanted list.

RJ I am in Holland Ohio, just outside of Toledo. South of the Motor City about 45 miuntes.

UPDATE.. It runs!! and I only had to throw 4 tools!! My skills are improving.

I charge the battery over night, used a jumper box, re clean the new plugs I put in and still it wouldnt start.

It was trying, it would idle for 3 or seconds. then quit.. It did this5 or 6 times. Then it kept going and I let it warm up for a while. I restarted it a hour later and all was well.

Thanks for the suggestions. You guys learn me well!!

Are you familiar with the choke lever ? They are hard to push if you can watch the linkage move you will see if it's moving far enough. Usually we stop a little to soon. Push again and use more force. When it starts don't touch the throttle.

thanks Bone. I think the issue is fuel. It does start and run easily when warm. I went back out and tried it and it started hard again.  It barley gets going and does not idle fast at all, even with the choke lever  push completely down.
I did put the Interstate carb springs in it so I was messing around in that neighbor hood, but have no idea what I should look for next. I was looking at the choke linkage earlier and it just doesnt seen like it moves that far. But I  have no idea what enough is in this case.

Mine does the same thing when it is cold and yes I know about pushing the choke all the way.. I think the enrichment plungers are dirty but have not had them apart I can push the choke all the way and have pushed the sliders on the sides of the carbs also.
But it does the same thing starts runs for about 3 secs then bogs and dies and NO I do not touch the throtte at all. After that it takes a bit to get her started feathering the throttle and such with the choke off but it is touch and go.  But all said the enrichment circuit is useless after the first 3 sec burst..
