I just called honda about purchacing a new petcock. They said it would be $148.05. They never mentioned a rebuild kit. My bike has been sitting for 3 months with a bad petcock. If I remove a plug wouldn't that stop it from hydrolock or is their another way?

I beleive the rebuild kit is called a cover set.  The filter/screen is not included.  It has been awhile, but I think I payed below $30 for my cover set and screen from Direct Line.

Correctly stated, that is what I paid. The other thing is, if your petcock is bad, it does not mean you will hydrolock. I won't go into detail, but if you understand how the petcock functions and is constructed, you will know a hydrolock is not eminent.

Ya all just got me paranoid talking about hydrolock. Who knows how long my petcock hasn't worked but its been at least 2 years. It has to be very rare beause I never hear about it. I will be sure and do a search when I get home tonight
