I’ve noticed that my buddy has a set of kuryakyn floor boards that are peeling all over. Why?? What’s up with their chrome?? I have a set of Iso-wings that are starting to do the same thing. I was thinking that I would be able to polish ‘em up but they’re not made of anything shiny, it’s like they’re chrome plated lead or something like that. What gives??

Got some highway pegs that did that too. Caught the Kury rep in a good mood at BikeWeek a couple years ago & he gave me a new set. Said keep the peeling ones. New ones are doing it again.

it sure seems that the quality of their chrome product has gone south of the border.

Kury's base metal is some kind of pot metal mixture. It corrodes easily and no amount of wax will stop it. It's shiney junk basicly, China's best no doubt. I'm tired of spending money on replacements. When what I have now turns to toxic waste I'm done.

my 10+ year old highway pegs still look great, you guys must of got the monday moring or friday afternoon run stuff. Then I thought maybe its was an area thing as most of the posts are from FL, till I saw Alph is from WI. Just bought a second set of pegs for the new one and I'm looking at um different now.

I am not sure you can buy an American made "chrome" anything that will last more than a few months without deteriorating..which leaves "other made" chrome..most of which, is no better.. In the last 20 years almost everything that "WORKS" has been regulated out of existence or made totally useless for our safety...
We had a product for removing hard water stains called "Clearview" that would remove stains from windows in a matter of seconds...NOW illegal and no longer made in Washington..It was acid based and required rubber gloves, so I guess a lot of the college educated kids of today couldn't read the directions..and so it goes with quality chrome...surprised it isn't illegal to own a Valk since all that chrome can blind you..

I have three sets of the Cobra boards (Alph has one set right now). The ones that came on my Valk look pretty good still, but are flaking somewhat on the undersides. The other two sets I got free and thought I might be able to strip and polish or powder coat. Haven't quite figured out what to do with them yet, but they're too ugly to be on a bike right now.
