O-k built my lo-tech wooden jack adapter for my bright yellow h/f jack. Where is the best place to position the jack with lo tech wooden adapter?? Lets make the bottle jack on the lift center of jach and proceed from there. Should it line up with drivers footpeg? Or line up front or back of of foot peg. Don't want to drop phat gurl on my gourd!! T I A

Stick the two uprights of the wood adapter up into the the two hardpoints behind the engine, with the flatstock pointed forward under the engine. Have the rear arm of the jack under the adapter uprights, as far to the rear as you can without lifting on the kickstand mounts.

Leave your kickstand out all the time, lest you forget or the hydraulics fail and the bike will land on the stand and not fall over.

Put your kickstand on a piece of 2 X 4/6 before sliding the jack and adapter underneath.

Start to jack slowly watching how it goes up... oftimes the bike still tends to be stern heavy.

Once up, set the safety bar on the jack and let it down a little to take the weight off the hydraulics.

I never use tie downs, but will slide one or two jackstands under the front engine guards if I will be pulling hard on wrenches.

Do not trip over the jack and fall on the bike and knock it off the jack.  Do not leave a bunch of round sockets and tools where you will trip/slide and fall on the bike.

No matter how careful I am, I always spill fluids on my drive, so I always spread a big lawn and leaf bag underneath before working.

Don't forget to drain the breather.

No problem.  I need to post an amendment however.  I never change the oil on the jack, just on the sidestand (sitting on the bike and leaning it to the right to get all the remaining oil out).  So I use a garbage bag for oil changes on the side stand.  After it's up on the jack, you cannot get a bag under the jack.... DOH.

Just as a head's up - the H/F jack is a PITA when lowering the bike.  IMO, they engineered it backwards.  If you push the pedal half-way, the bike drops like a bomb.  If smash the peddle all the way, it goes down slower.

On mine, there is a point where I'm going past the fast-as-hell setting to get to the let-her-down-easy setting.  So, the bike drops a few inches in fractions of a second, then slows down the rest of the way.

They shoulda built it the other way - the further you press, the faster it goes.  Seems logical to me, anyways.

Scared the crap outta me the first time.  And since it wasn't a smooth stop, she just sat there teetering back-and-forth a little.

Now, I get myself ready...raise my foot way up in the air...and smash that little pedal with all I've got to make sure it goes down as slow as possible.

My Jack, the pedal just pumps it up (higher).... there is a separate little lever you ease off to let it down slow.

I don't know who made it.... got it on sale at Pep Boys years ago.
