My esperience has been IS's get better mileage, because the fairing and pod are slicker.

MP
I've got 40 with both models, I've got 30 with both, It just depends on the conditions and speed.  Hoser

I get 32-33 MPG no matter how I drive, it seems.

On the other hand, you could cut that mileage in half, and I'd still be just as happy!

I get between 58-72 mpg . . . .  Funny thing is; the faster I go, the better mileage I get!  (First liar doesn’t have a chance!)

O-k i said this b4-you can't put a price on the fun factor-every one of us that has one or more of these fun machines knows what it's about!! My son in law has a honda shadow-i'm 40 years older than he is and he tells me i drive to fast. The point is-when i leave the house on phat ghurl-I make sure i've got my credit card and cash with me. Down here it runs 10-12$ a fill up. But when you get to do what we get to do-on the MOTORCYCLE we get to do it on 2funny 2funny :2funny:NUFF SAID!!

I do the mileage so I know where I have to stop for fuel.  Wink

Anyway.
On the 97 std the BEST I ever got was 36 and that was well behaved all highway. Normal back and forth to work and wandering around was 32.

I haven't had a bunch of time to play on the 99 tourer, but a quick check last summer I was seeing 42 back and forth to work and short trips. I am thinking that that might be a bit off, but even if it is lower it still means it has a longer range than the std.

However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.
