Years ago it was suggested to use spray can undercoating on the back side of the timing belt cover to help with sound.  I was wondering if anyone that had done it, experienced any negative issues?  I'm considering doing to the underside of fenders also and wondered what the consensus is here?  Thanks;
Bill

Hey Bill. Damn, how big are your ears ? I guess when you get older, like me, you don`t hear all those "sounds". The only problem I have had is "grear whine" Other wise the Valk. is noise-less. I did need to sound-deaden the Trans-Covers with "dyna-mat", helped some.  Roll Eyes Good luck.  Wink

heat is the number one killer of timing belts. that will insulate and hold the heat in IMO

Can't say anything about the timing cover, but I CAN talk about the fenders.

I sprayed the bottom of all 3 fender pieces with a "rubber-ized coating".  It's a little hard to explain, but it looks like a rubbery version of a truck bed liner.

It definitely quieted down the wheels a bit.  How much???  Not a WHOLE bunch, but definitely noticeable.

I wouldn't do it just for the sake of it, but if you have the fenders off already, go for it!!!

Oh... don't forget to remove the rubber strips glued on there (if you have those under your fenders) and clean things up really well before you spray.  Also... go easy with that spray... it tends to build up quickly!

Cajun, thanks, thats the input I'm looking for.  I'm having the fenders painted so I was thinking it was a good time to do it if I was gonna.

And Don, I'm kinda old too, and your right, the whine is the loudest, so I'll take 6's advise and leave the cover alone.

Thanks Guys!
