I have to give him credit, he is waiting it out.  It's been relisted at least 3 times and he had an offer of $9500 at one point, but he won't bite!  Cheesy

They say there is a "SUCKER" born every minute, but I think he will not find one in this day and time. If he had a $9500 offer, ----- well, he missed out on that. Bless his heart.  crazy2

He might have bought it in '97 as an "investment" like others did with hard to get Harleys back then.  If he waits long enough, he might find a "just gotta have it" person like the ones that shelled out $25,000 for an $18,000 Harley!   uglystupid2

+1...especially when you consider that one of the worst things you can do with a bike is let it sit and not use it.  Throw in the fact that Valks last forever when properly maintained AND the fact that you can find one with relatively low mileage for $9K - $10K less - and I don't see this guy selling this bike any time soon.

i was told a story about a guy that lives out west.  he bought two valkyries, one he rides, and the other is still in the crate.  he plans to sell it when he retires??  don't know if that's a true story, but unless it's a ferrari i don't see it as a good investment.....  he might get blue book value.

it's true, there is a sucker born every minute.....

Valkyries being higher production and available may have not reach those extreme values.

A 79-82 CBX in the crate or actual this condition will bring a good price, well worth the investment.

I remember reading a story on the collectors of certain pace car Vettes, because so many were never drove and they were less popular(collectible) years, owners could have been driving them and lost marginally vs. it wasting garage space.

He's also lying about the mileage, Paul.   tickedoff  He lists the mileage as 1300 but the odometer clearly shows 1320.   2funny

I think he may have seriously over estimated the impact of Bumble Bee fever.  Wink

OUr local HD dealer started life as a Honda dealer. He has a 1976 Limited Goldwing (a limited edition LTD model was rolled out alongside the standard Wing, with nice badges, pinstriping and a better seat, flared mudguards, gold coloured wheels and spokes and some more nice but otherwise unimportant cosmetics, all at a fairly hefty extra cost of course. The LTD version of the GL1000 was only available for that one model year.) with less than 20 miles on it. of course, everything is dried out, o-ring, seals, etc, but has been always in the store/shop, climate controlled, so the seat, etc, is still like new. this bike will probably NEVER run again, as it would cost way too much to completely go through it, but it IS a survivor. He has started taking it to shows, I've heard. 10 years ago, he flat out turned down $20,000 for it. I doubt he would sell it, ever, unless the amount was astronomical. He's got several hundred thousand dollars worth of vintage HD's up on a catwalk around the store, so it's not like he's hurting for the money.

It IS a beautiful bike, and wish it was mine...
