Does anyone know of a conversion kit to turn the rear blinkers into running lights/blinker lights?  This would make them two-way lights - blinker and running light - brighter when blinking.  I'd like to get more light on the back of the bike but don't really want to add one of those LED strips.

Tanks!

Just get you a set of front turn signals and put them on the back. You will have to get some red lenses for them also.

I like the Electrical Connection LED conversion.  Here's the link:

This is what I have on my Valk.  The pic is of my wife's VTX.

The Electrical Connection conversion kit that Willow mentioned works very well. Have had it on my bike for about 4 years now. It is nice to have the running lights, and an extra set of brake lights. Well worth the cash, imho.

Signal Minder by Kissentech does well. It gives rear running/brake thruough the turn signals as well as auto shut off on the turn signals. Straightforward install and graet customer support.
My install did not work correctly, called their support, talked to the very knowledgeable tech (owner's daughter), was told to remove the headlamp signal indicator bulb and it worked as described. They sent me, at no charge, a replacement bulb with some circuit dealie built in. Works like a champ, plus 4 way flashers or wig wag flashers.
Paint the inside of the stock lenses with a light coat of Testor's Transparent Candy Apple (think hobby shop) and you have red lenses.

I just got the red lenses for my conversion today! When I got my Cobra light bar, it had the turn signals with it, so I had an "extra" set, so I'll be using them. The lenses are available from PhatPerformance. Here's a link:

http://www.phatperformanceparts.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=CTS-0020&CartID=

I thought very hard about the electrical connection set up, but I don't like mixing led's with incandescents, so went with the fronts on the rear...

I think there's a write-up someplace - not sure where, maybe someone else knows. Thought it was rattlebars...

I installed a set from Electrical Connections and I love them.  The thing I like better about these over other conversions is the turn signals remain yellow.  I think they are more noticeable than the ones that blink red.  The kit uses your stock amber lenses, so you don't effect the original appearance of the bike.

And, they actually blink from red to amber in a eye catching way that makes it noticable.

It wasn't cheap, but it gave me what I wanted....to be seen from behind. The first picture is as a running light, the second is with the brakes on. They are set up with clear lens and red LED's, but apparently the brilliance makes them look amber in the picture. They aren't....they're solid BRIGHT red. I also replaced the side reflectors on the saddlebags with some LED's that work as running lights, then when I hit the turn signal it will alternate off/on with the rear turn signal light. I can't go into the means/method on here, kinda long and it's been quite a few years since I did it. They're bright enough during the day that other riders have asked if my brake light switch is stuck in the "on" position. I found it nearly impossible to get a good picture showing the difference in brilliance. These don't do it justice but gives an idea anyway. They're bright enough that if you look directly at them at eye level with the brakes on, it hurts your eyes. As for buying red lenses, save your money. Go to Wally World or a hobby shop and get some Testors #1605 Transparent Candy Apple Red spray paint. Clean the inside of your amber lens with some alcohol, then give the INSIDE a couple coats of the red paint. Let it dry real good and reinstall. Your amber lenses now look red and cost well under $5. That's what I did before changing to the different lights shown below.

John.....

Where'd ya get the clear tail light lens.....and what kind of turn signal lights are those and where'd ya get those too?  The wiring to make them turn/run/brake.....was it a kit from somewhere?

No, it's not a kit, I wired it in myself, kinda involved. Did most of the work prior to 2006 regardless of what the license plate says. Smiley The turns were orginally from Radiantz I believe, and came with clear three lenses....three different colors. As for the clear taillight lens, I originally got it from Custom Dynamics, that was some time ago and I've not found one recently. Don't know what I'll do if I break it.

EDIT: Just found a clear or smoke tail light lens at www.Motolume.com   Cost is $64.95 for either. Forgot to add....clear/smoke turn signal lenses are $19.95.

The local Honda Dealer here in Evansville has some clear taillight lens on clearance I think they were $7.00  Is that a good deal? Thought about getting one but don't know if I'll ever use it.

$7 a pair, or each? Either way, it's pretty good, but of course, a pair, better. if you think you MIGHT ever use them, might be a good idea to pick them up - I'm sure you could always sell them. There are two different versions - the early ones have two holes, in the front, and the later have no holes in front, have a tab that gets a screw that comes through the side of the housing.

Whether you like them or not, is personal preference. I don't personally like them, I was looking for clear, to paint red, but found red ones, after all.

I'm in the middle, literally of installing the Electrical Connections kit. I had it for my fatboy, never put it on, and am doing a supervalk and decided to add the kit to it at the same time...

I think he's talking about the tail light, not turns. I'd go ahead and get it also, then replace the bulb with the Radiantz LED conversion. That's what I have in mine and they're extremely bright....much brighter than the stock bulb. Then I'd go to Motolume.com and get two clear turn lenses and replace the bulb with the LED inserts. But first convert the OEM turns to handle the 1157 dual filament like the front turns have. Then he would have super bright lights in back, all LED and pulling less on the alternator. The only non-LED's on my bike is the headlight and driving lights. They're a heck of a lot more visible than the Electrical Connection kit, and just as easy if not more so to install.

I installed the electrical connection on my first Valkyrie about 8 years ago and wrote a tech article about it. I have since installed 4 or 5 more for friends and they have held up well.
Good bang for the buck, and not a difficult modification for the average weekend wrencher.
