He's a trooper alright I was behind him when he did his stunt driving He must have a really potent guardian bell somewhere on that Harley.

From my perspective.... It involved a blue SUV that was going to fast and was hogging the road, a narrow road and a cattleguard.

Thanks Maris for the e-mail last night!!!!!!
Here is what I got from Strider as far as the happenings:
Hotglue, just wanted to give a quick update on James before I start working on the ride report for today. The main thing is he is FINE. None the worse for wear whatsoever. He may be slightly sore tomorrow but as of this evening - not even an aspirin and FB is fine too. Since you posted below that you know and had talked to FB, I wanted to give you a quick update to ease your mind brother.
Ok, from what I understand happened. There were enough bikes that the group was split into two groups. FB and James were in the first group and I was back in the second one. The weather had finally cleared up and the roads were dry at the time. There was a little, narrow two lane road with 35 mph speed limit - I actually think it was some type of park.
We were traveling down the road and a truck came from the other direction and flashed his lights. I thought he was letting us know that there was a speed trap ahead. About 5 miles later, we came upon the first group of bikes stopped. All I heard is that a Harley had gone down and the rider and bike were fine. The ride captain of the first group motioned for us to continue on since we were right past a curve and blocking the road, so we continued on. I prayed it wasn't James and when we got to where we were going for dinner, about 10 minutes after we got there the first group arrived. When I saw James and the bike, I thought "Whew, it wasn't James" (since there were other Harley's in the group). After he pulled up and I asked him who went down, come to find out, it was him.
Okay, from what I can gather happened was.....The road was super narrow going across a cattle guard. The road dipped down, took a short radius left, across a cattle guard and back up a hill continuing left (kind of a left switchback in a dip) - well, from what I can remember. There was a jeep that was flying through this thing as the group of bikes came into it as well. I understand the ride captain yelled at the driver to slow down (speed limit was 35 and I think the curve was 25). The jeep almost pushed FB towards the guardrail and came into the cattle guard curve right as James came into it. The road was still moist in the dip and James hit his brakes and moved to the far right to keep away from this jerk. The wheel didn't grab right away because of the moisture so he hit his brakes a second time when he was all the way on the right (to avoid said jerko). His rear wheel slid off the side of the road (which was a drop from the shoulder) and got in the gravel which brought his front off with it. There really wasn't much of a shoulder (none really) and the ditch was right there so as the bike was sliding towards the ditch, he must have decided to unass from the bike and with his height and the slow speed we were all going, it must have been a matter of "stepping off" the bike. He slid down into the grass and his bike went down into the ditch. He stood right up and went to his bike.
They said his bike was almost upside down. They uprighted it and rolled it out of the ditch. Brother, he was riding with his guardian angel today - I asked him if he would buy me a lottery ticket. If you didn't know what you were looking for, you wouldn't even know anything had happened to either of them. The quick release windshield came off and they got it put back on. The right highway peg was pushed back and they pushed it back into place. The right mirror was loose and they tightened it. When he pulled up, I didn't even think it was him that had gone down. When you look closer, there is a little scuffing on the right saddlebag and there is a small dent, and ouchie to the paint on the right side of the tank. It will just take a little work to make it look new again.
James is fine. Later tonight he had a little soreness to his hip - but not even aspirin taking pain. I just wanted to put your mind at ease bro, he is fine and I will be riding back with them part of the way tomorrow. It was a slow speed step off and all because of a jerk wad going too fast in a cage.

Glad to hear that James is ok. Hope the guy in the Jeep was decent enough to stop and ask about the condition of the person he forced off the road.

No he didn't stop, but because of the road curving to the driver's right and James going to his left, I don't think he even saw James' bike when he went down. The Jeep's rearview would have been showing nothing more than pasture.
