I tried to put together a ride last year on short notice did get some that wanted to join in but didnt work out. thought this year i would start early or at least give you  all something too think about. i was thinking maybe two day ride in jellystone and area including a trip over the beartooth one of the best rides in the country i am a local but only now one other valker in the area. I would welcome all that are interested was thinking late summer maybe before or after sturgis as the weather here is more predictable then and not too far sturgis if your headed there

I'll be out there June 19th-26th for my honeymoon... Flying into Bozeman and staying in Big Sky... I was planning on renting a Harley for a couple of days and doing a motorcycle tour of Yellowstone. Just throwing that bit out there... If nothing else, a guide would be GREAT  cooldude

Sounds like a great ride!  Before Sturgis would conflict with IZ XI.  Wife & I are going to Shanty Creek for sure.  If it was planned for after, we might be interested.  Stan

Mikey,

Let me know when time is closer to your trip out here would be happy to point in the right direction or maybe join you for a ride one day lots of great highways around here. I live real close to Bozeman and actually you will fly into Belgrade which is closer and thats where the harley dealer is.they just call it Bozeman airport because its the only town that has much of a population close by.

As far as the rest of ride goes just looking too see how much interest there is and sounds like after sturgis would be best thanx for the info didn't think about IZ XI dates.

Wyoming native here, transplanted. Jellystone is a day's drive (okay, maybe 2 if I don't speed).

I'd love to ride Jellystone with all ya'll (that's southern for everyone).

Let me know the dates and I'll see if I can work it into my schedule. It will be a beautiful ride... looking forward to it!

I will be going to Inzane then on to Sturgis (camping) and then to Yellowstone too, camp also. If this time works out with your plan I would love to go on the ride. I planned on doing Chief Joesph and Bear tooth also.

So it apears there is already some good interest. My intial thought is too start Aug 13 around Bozeman and ride through West yellowstone into the park and take the southern loop out towards Cody and stay the night there or in Red lodge. The next day over Beartooth and into Cooke City then either to Livingston or back to  West Yellowstone depending on what people what to do. Maybe we could kick  it all of with dinner and cocktails Aug 12 at the world famous Oasis steak house in Manhattan,Mt these dates are flexiable with me execpt the 20 of august I am really busy have a function that weekend every year and cannot miss it

Riding thru the pass in June might find you in some snow.  I was out that way last year and there was road construction signs advising motorcyclists to consider an alternate route. Might want to check that out before you make any plans. Also, the Beartooth Rally is in July.  July or August would be better time to ride in that area !!

Two days, at least. You can't see enough of Jellystone in one day. Even two days you still don't have time to stop and smell all the mud caldrons, if ya know what I mean...

Fudgie; I plan on staying at the campgrounds you stayed at last year. Do I need to make a reservation or can I just show up.I hope to be in Sturgis 3 or 4 Aug. and stay until 12 or 13 Aug. then on to Yellowstone and Utah. Do you recommend the campground you used last year (showers, toilettes, food, campsites) let me know please.

Yes we/I do plan on staying at Rush-no-more. Best camp ground so far. Everything is a short walk from your tent. They cater to RV's mostly so tent camping is very close to the 'office'. Showers- always hot water. Toilets- 6 flush and a few portajohns, clean. Decent food. B'fast and supper. $$ is kinda high but its rally week. $5 ave. We either ate at our tent from the grocery store or hit McD/Burger King in town or rode to Nemo for the famous all you can eat b'fast at a local FD. Campsites-excellant. Alot of pines so you have to watch for the sap. Most tents are on a hill or up near the office. We camp right on the left as you pull in. A small circle of trees. Your welcome to stay there with us. We stay there every year and so does a few others. They are great folks and we can get rowdy but not to loud. Your half ass protected from the storms, almost daily, cause of the mountain it backs up to.

Oh santa, I would make your resv early. They did not fill up but if you wait till you arrive you will pay twice as much as if you would do it online a few months ahead of time.

I grew up in Billings. Left when I was 19, been over the Beartooth pass many times but never on a motorcycle! That would be a great ride. I haven't been back to Montana in 20 years and keep telling my wife we need to go. Was planning a Yellowstone vacation this summer in the cage with our 7 yr old, wonder if the wife would mind if I rode seperately or maybe towed the bike and took off for a day!  uglystupid2 I would probably get some serious stink eye for that  Evil.

I loved Billings. I have a few friends from the Crow reservation near by. The last time I went there was on horse back. It was an 11 months trip from Elfrida AZ to Billings and back. That was a great year. got to see alot.

Yea they are very nice to. That is a very good price. At SV you have alot more options. They got a real nice log cabin lodge with bands every night and a beer bar. They also have a beer garden and food outside. Very nice showers that double as a storm shelter. They were very good about going out to each site and warning us of a storm. They also got a bike repair shop. They had a pond but we were not allowed to swim in it.  Undecided They also did not let us do our own laundry, someone else did it and we paid by the pound. Turn around time was good till a storm hit and then it was 2 or more days till you got your stuff. Its a cow pasture so expect ruff ground. Depending on where you camp, it maybe a long ride back to your tent. Expect mud.
The bad thing is that it is 8 miles out of town. Its very dark and alot of deer. They also have Da Bus which takes you into town. Best $30 I spend is for the Da Bus. No need to fight traffic and DUI's. Heavy PD patrol from Sturgis to the Buffalo Chip, which your 8 miles past. Getting through town can be a bear from that side of town but if you ride early you will be good. We havent been on that side of town in 2 years.
The thing we miss about SV is seeing the sunset over Bear Butte Mnt.
