Bought a luggage rack for the hitch. Was wondering how much weight I can put on it? If I 'lean' on it it flexes at the hitch a little. I was just gonna put a 24" luggage bag filled with clothes in it for our Sturgis trip.  Evil

Your luggage should be just fine back there..... but don't try to carry a person back there or you will notice a little lighter front end steering and much more ease in pulling wheelies.... Wink

As far back as that rack is, I wouldn't put over about 80 pounds on it.....

I always try to keep my trailer tongue weight less than 100....

One thing you need to think about is blocking your tail/turn signal lights.... I have seen a few of those racks on some Wings that have some LED turns and brake lights mounted on them and just plug in a trailer adapter to your light pigtail from the bike.

I thought about that. The rack is far enough back about 18" or so from the lights. The only prob I see is if a car is directly behind me. Excellant side view of the lights tho. I should not be riding after dark anyway on my trip. 90% of the time we point/ use hand signals when we change lanes....
I found some small clearance lights at a auto store. Think I can turn these into signals? Maybe if i put in a dual filament bulb? The rack is kinda small, 8x13x20 tall or so.
Really don't want to pull trailer this year to Sturgis again.

I have a carry-all  hauled camping tent , duffle bag,and sleeping bag on mine. To camp at Nemo just outside of Sturgis. Did fine. Although, We froze our ass off. Got down to 25 deg. at night. So don't forget to pack the long johns.  cooldude One other note. I wired my signal lights to work at the truck lights. Can see how to do that here on shop talk.

I want a hitch to carry the golf bag I bought for my Wing, to also use on my Valk.  The bag holds a great deal, and I don't want a trailer.
Anyway, Hitch Doc said their hitch isn't rated for more than 40 pounds tongue weight!!  The bag and hitch adapter weigh 27 pounds by themselves.
Should I go for it?  Hitch Doc is supposed to be one of the better ones..........

How is Nemo for camping? I like nemo rd. Always go by to late for the Fire fighter breakfast.
