Walked in to a gun shop and walked out with this. Reckon I'll have to
put a few "miles" on it Saturday...taking my gun permit class.

Taurus is really good stuff! Lifetime warranty, transferable if you sell or trade.  I am teaching another CCW class in the morning, been doing one a month. If demand keeps up as it is I will need to add another each month..............

So Bob what is the verdict? I am looking at one in 40 S&W. My local dealer is asking $350 in stainless. Was also considering a Kel=tec, but the Taurus feels better.

My new toy! I went and visted a couple of my cousins who have a gun store and I had to get something. Times are tough in the gun world you know thanks to Obama. I haven't shot it yet but I'm sure Scott and I will rectify that soon.

Taurus PT24/7 PRO DS in 9MM.

I really like it. It feels good and shoots good. I don't know if
I'll ever get used to the 2-dot Heinie (?) sights, though. I'll
probably get some 3-dots. This is my first semi so I can't compare
it to others, but for the price it'd be hard to beat. I was going to look
at a Kel-Tec til I found out they have no safety.

Anyone tried out a Taurus 709 Slim?  Looks nice in 9mm.  Nice price too.

Unless you practice day in and day out engaging and disengaging that safety untill it is second nature to you, that safety could likely get you killed in a defensive situation. Under stress, people forget, blank out, s*** their pants, etc. It is human nature unless you have practiced untill the action is part of your unthinking mindset. DAO semiautos are safe. The only way they fire is if the trigger is COMPLETELY cycled. Search Youtube for the video of the NYC jewler that is shot numerous times by a robber because he forgets to disengage the safety on his weapon. He could have easily shot first had he done so. Best of luck to you with your weapon, I hope it serves you well and please practice using that safety  Smiley.

Very good advice. Myself I never use a safety on my auto .25 Colt, 9mm Browning, Tarus .32 and one in chamber. The 9mm is the only one that is double action. The .25 and .32 are always in first click. Am I wrong in doing this ?

Well I picked up A Taurus Millenium Pro in 40 S&W with the stainless slide. The had ammo too, which is getting hard to find around here, so I stocked up. I only have one problem. I brought the gun home and my Mom wants one. Never wanted a gun in her life."I better get one before I can't" She is 65 and healthy, but I think it was a little too muck kick for her. I got the last 40 the had. all they had left was 45's. They do have a nice little Walther 22. put in some CCI Stingers, and I think it would be sufficient. I dont know what to think. She wants to go look at the 22.

Takes hammer off fireing pin and not in fireing position. One more pull back and fire ready.  Wink

That's what I thought you were referring to, just wanted to be sure. Unfortunately, I don't feel qualified to answer because of my lack of knowledge for your particular weapons. I only have my 1911 experience to fall back on where I know that carrying a 1911 in half rooster position with a round chambered is NOT safe because the hammer can still fall. The only safe way to "carry" a loaded 1911 is in condition 1, (cocked and locked with a round chambered). In this state with a properly functioning 1911, the hammer can only fall if all safety conditions are met. Hopefully someone that knows your weapons will chime in. Sorry I couldn't be more help to you.

Not an expert on the 1911 but on the S+W and others - SAFETY ???? It is a decocker, after you fire, you flip it to decock the gun, then flip it back so the gun is ready to use and uncocked. Your safety is that you keep your trigger finger outside the trigger guard until you make the decision to shoot (gun is safe with finger outside the guard) put it in when you want to shoot. NO FINE MOTOR SKILLS EXIST UNDER STRESS, just big ones, like the abilty to use your legs to run when you can not get the safety off.

Yea, and she won't have any accidents with the slide coming back and hurting her either.......
