I'm looking out at 6 inches of new snow and remembering that

it was just last week that I saw bare ground for the first time since November here.

Now 6 inches of snow is not much but it's going to take at least one cup of coffee to get up the ambition to go out and blow it off before the sleet predicted puts a crust on it.

Geez, just the other day I started the Vstrom up.  First time that I heard it since November.  It took all of one second to fire up and keep running.  I guess that fuel injection does have something going for it.

About the only going for here is................C'mon Spring!

Wayne, I hate to rub it in but yesterday I had a really tough decision to make. Wanted to wash the bike and couldn't decide which part of shorts to wear.   I decided to heck with washing, it's T-shirt weather so I went for a ride. Got in about 150, a little burn on the back of the neck, arms, windburn on the face and the telltale areas on the hands where the gloves are open. Looks like high 70's to low 80's all week. I've ordered this weather for the next ten months, along with rain only on Tuedays and Thursdays. And it can only rain between two and four o'clock on those days. Clouds are OK, but have to be those big cotton balls that float by...the kind where you used to lay on your back as a kid and imagine what they looked like. Camelot is a wonderful place!!   

What you should do is follow the birds and go south in the winter. It's not always T-shirt weather, but it still beats the heck out of clearing snow away.

Solo1-i feel your pain. We had some winter here in the ozarks-but i was able to ride some in jan and feb. While not as good as fl you can't run fast enough or talk glib enough or give me enough money to move back around that chicago area. In some ways that area is a little like maine-2 seasons winter and the 4th of july. The rain we had yesterday wasn't quite enough to wash the salt off the roads yet though. ALL I CAN SAY IS-WHEN YOU DO GET OUTride safe

I agree with you John.  Us dumb Hoosiers just don't know enough to leave.  Winters here just make summers seem more interesting tho.  That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! 

Besides, I'm sticking close to home right now.  I'm looking for a lady friend through a place like Harmony.Com.  Since I'm no Stanley Steamer tho, I'm limiting my search to ladies more my age.

Besides, those  studs of 50, 60 and 70 years leave the field wide open since they don't appreciate the Golden Years ladies.

Old2Soon, if i didn't have Solo1 as my handle and if you hadn't come up with yours first, I would've used it. That says it all.

About riding, I could've rode last week, I had an hours wide window but I've gotten very lazy in my old age.  I would've had to wash the bike as the salt on the roads is really heavy.  Besides, about 50 degrees is my lowest temp that i care to ride in now and I sold my heated vest.. It seems like it wasn't all that long ago that i rode on New Years day as a tradition.

Almost the same here. Had to mow the lawn (in shorts) on Sat. after a nice ride.

last week we had temps in the 50's, we lost 12 inches of snow, i was starting to be able to see the top of my 5 gallon pail i have covering my electrical receptical in our front yard at the base of our maple tree.  mind you, that 5 gallon bucket is ontop of a ring of decritive blocks!  now, IT'S COVERED AGAIN!!  we got 12 inches of snow from that last snow storm, we've still got march to go through before i put the snow blower away for the summer!!  

i believe it was two winters ago, we had gotten 4 inches of snow in april.  that muther nature is a *itch!!

Yeah I know, just didn't want to hurt my friend's feelings.  I was born and raised in the midwest so I know what it's like. I used to go stir crazy in winter....or maybe it was my parents!!!

I feel better. I put on my hunting camo coveralls over my jacket, stuck on my hunting cap,boots and gloves and got out and snowblowed the drive (again).  I didn't much feel the 18 degrees.

He**!, I'm lucky that i can still do that at my age.  Came back in all warm and alive except for my right wrist.  It doesn't like to hold the handlebars on the snow blower any more than the handlebars on my 'Strom.   ???

I'm betting that Florida has more than its share of those "older" ladies. Maybe even one or two that wouldn't mind taking a spin on the back of your V-Strom.

We missed the BS that Mpls got, we is lookin at GREEN grass.   

Our high school girls basketball tournament starts next week, and we ALWAYS get a huge gift from that bitch mother nature.

So, my blower is setting in the upper garage, just on the other side of the Toyota headed out the door, all gassed up and ready.

I don't even have to get my feet in the snow, just step out the kitchen door, walk across the garage floor and fire Johnny up.

The Valk, Trike or this unit, they will have to pry my DEAD COLD fingers off the bars or steering wheel.

Little Johnny - can eat a lot of snow with ease, even that wet sheet.

It don't like ice to well however, if i take it easy it will chew through ice/snow, especially at the end of the 2 driveways.

  Well for me it never did quite warm up enough to ride. It ain't as cold here as where your at-but cold enough i'm not gonna fire up and ride!! Now we are in for a coupla days of rain. Maybe it'll be enough to wash off the rest of the salt. Sun has been out all day but it never got past 44 degrees. Hope all that snow melts soon and STAYS THE H&$@ AWAY. As always RIDE SAFE.
