I called "Jeff" at Cycle Concepts today asking about service.  Anyone ever been to their shop in Frisco or dealt with them?

Thanks

Didn't know they are still there.   Embarrassed

Yes, I've had them mount MC tires on Valkyrie wheels before.  They can balance, too, with lead.  They are about 1.5 miles from me as the crow flies.  2.3 via pavement.   Wink

Use Slime or Dyna-Beads for balancing instead of lead.

Chuck, don't you mean Ride-On instead of Slime? www.ride-on.com

Slime is messy, will corrode wheels, and I'm uncertain about its balancing properties.

They've mounted tires for me a couple of times over the past 2 years.  The most recent, this past summer.
AND actually the employee (with the voice box problem) was very helpful with one small problem that he enthusiastically corrected.   cooldude
They may be one of the very few shops is this area that will do a "Dark Side" mount.

Speaking of weights... I took my rims in last week to a local dealer to get tires on - came home with 'em and noticed a LONG row of sticky weights right on the pretty part of the wheel. I don't ever remember this from other tire swaps.

Can I request lead rim clamp-type weights?  are there any other type of weights outside the tire/wheel?

That 4 inch strip of sticky weights looks like hell!

You'll have to find a source for the clamp on lead weights yourself.  Many years ago the EPA went the way of stopping the lead weights which gave birth the sticky ones.  They even tried to go after fishing weights as well.

If anyone has a good online supplier of lead clamp weights let us know.

I don't think the clamp-ons work particularly well on our wheel design.  There's no lip around the perimeter for it to grab.  I've had them come off wheels similar to ours.   Messy and noisy.

Dunno not from Tejas but my guy still uses clamp on weights that clamp on the center of rim between slots not on the edge.

has anyone found a good place for clamp on weights or our we committed to the sticky ones now?
Many of us have gone away from lead weights and use either Ride-On or Dyna Beads.

Ride-On provides puncture sealing along with balancing, but is not compatible with tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensors mounted inside the wheel/tire.  (I believe Amazon is a good place to shop for this.)

Dyna Beads do not offer puncture sealing but are compatible with in-tire TPMS sensors.  They are also reusable.  (I have most of a quart left.)
