the most fun thing about driving truck is getting to talk to lots of folks on the road. some drivers will spin some really outlandish tales, I just nod and think to myself 'do I really look that guilible?'.  usually I let them grab the reins and steer the conversation where they want to go. I met a dude out in cali that has been in and out of the country music biz for decades all the while driving truck. he claims to have opened for Reba and have written songs for Merle Haggard and Chrystal Gayle(sp). his name is Benjamin Lee James, if you guys have an extensive collection check your jewel cases for credit and let me know.

we're jabbering away and he tells me ther are 3 ways into Nashville 1 sell your soul to a record label after doing a demo. 2 'the vouch' someone already established in the biz makes the connection for you. and 3 you buy your way in, if you or your family has a few million laying around they'll make you as star.  I guess you have to have SOME talent, which leaves me out  uglystupid2

I'd never heard of this I said 'get outta here, buy your way in, really?'  he said "yep, really" I said 'ok like who? drop a name'

he said 'Taylor Swift'

I have no idea if he was telling the gospel but he sounded sincere. the devil is in the details and he did give me a demo of 7 songs 6 he wrote and one he covered.

So I googled and wiki'ed him and got nuttin. Sounds pretty old school talkin about Nashville. That's back when Chet Atkins and others had production clout and tried to keep the "Nashville Sound" while others were kinda locked out, Waylon Willie 3/4 of all the Texas songwriters.
I think Taylor Swift made it cause her product sells. Not my style but she writes good teen angst tunes. You really don't have to be in a specific location anymore to move your product.
That said, the whole industry is turning upside down due to mp3's. I can record album quality music in my bedroom with the equipment available today! This takes out a lot of the middlemen that was bleeding the musicians dry for years. It's a whole new world!

Keep on pickin!

Could it be Benjamen Lee James from Brooksville, FL? Try this spelling in google and go to his Facebook page and check out the pictures.
