Trying to decide if I should keep or sell the valk...I got a second bike and had visions of having a choice whenever I went out to ride. Now I have to shuffle bikes in the garage because with 3 bikes and a Mustang it is cramped. In 2.5 months I have ridden the Valk twice.

It is not like I need the money, however being a school teacher I am not rich either, just not in debt to anyone. Cost of maintenance and insurance on two bikes does not appeal to me.

Not sure how much to ask for the Valk, I bought it new in 98 and put 71,000 miles on it. It does look good but shows some age. I have searched classifieds and cycle trader and the like and there are some very low prices out there.

Question: Guys with multiple bikes-Do you use them or do you find some of them set more than others?

What do you think a 98 STD w/71k is worth? No windshield, or hard bags, regular maintenance, could use new tires and has a dark side on the rear.

Surely that bike in the middle should go first?

If the fire has gone out you might as well sell it. With Interstates in the 6-8K range and your bike with no hardbags ect. you can see where that puts you. Now if you can find that person who has a real hankering for a Valk that he can make his own and doesn't want all the bells and whistles of an Interstate you might do OK. But you knew all that anyway.

I have to agree with Brit, that is one fugly ride 2funny I have 3 bikes and seems like each one gets out sooner or later. If you let the Valk go chances are you'll never have one again. Just my 2 cents.

Have the same problem you have. I have 2 valk's and roadstar 1700cc plus a 1995 bronco and jeep plus all the other thing's. today i spent most of the day trying to get ready to put a egale motorcycle tire changer and still have a long way to go. As to your question the wife and i put just a little under   17, 000 miles last year on the bike's when looking at the mileage we put a little over 5,000 miles on each bike but that's me. I like all 3 of them Cheesy but that is just the way I ride. I guess if push comes to shove the cars will stay out side. gook luck in what ever you do

I am going to agree with Willow,  about $3,800 to $4,000. Someone that does not know Valkyrie's will be afraid of the miles.

It's hardly worth selling, might as well keep it!

I am in the same boat.....not wanting to give a paid bike away.....also it being the BEST motorcycle I have ever owned.....a classic in itself......owned from new.....low miles......having toyed with all of the reasons to sell or keep.....I have decided I want to keep it....I insure it and replace tires and change oil....and it cost me a little money....but when I ride her I find myseld smiling again like I did the day I picked it up from the selling stealer. NOT really needing the money but not having excessive money on hand I feel my fat girl is an investment and loving it like I do I just can't give it away for what people want to pay for her. Go in the garage look at her....ride her a little every year and keep her. She will outlast any of the other iron you have next to her in the garage.

The S50 is the one the wife rides, wouldn't be getting rid of that, it is important to keep her happy. The back rest is back on the Std, I had it off temp.

$4000 is about what I was thinking, seems like a small sum but I paid 11,000 in 98 so I guess 7,000 in 12 years is not to bad.

I love my Valk but when I get off the C14 and ride the valk like I did tonight it just isn't as fun as it use to be, I guess I am fickle. Thanks for all the advice and the $ help. I am in no hurry to make a decision so I guess I will let it sit for awhile and see.

I have the same problem, only backwards.  I have an 08 Concours 14 and I would much rather ride either of my Valks.  If you know of anybody looking for a Concours with 17.5 K miles I am looking to sell.  It can be seen on Craigslist for Winston-Salem, NC.

i have two cycles.  an interstate, and an old yamaha.  i don't want to sell the yamaha, but i haven't rode it in two years.  it will start, but one carb isn't working right so it sputters badly.  my goal is to rebuild it, but i know that even if i do that i still wouldn't ride it.  so, i've got to sell it.  hopefully, with gas going to $4+ this summer someone will pay me more then i paid for it fourteen years ago.....  it's better for someone to ride it then have it sitting around in my garage.....

Big difference in riding style between the suzuk and the valk.  Obviously you enjoy the upright leaning forward style, more than the laid back cruizing style.  I wonder which would be better on a long haul?  You don't need two up, so that's not an issue.  I know what I would do, keep em all.

I have 2 Valks.  I split miles between them almost evenly.  I ride the standard solo, and the IS 2-up, or when going a LONG way, or when the weather is bad.

I am in the same boat, kind of, I do not have the problem with the Valk and other bikes competing for my attention, but I do have a classic 71 VW convertible that just does not get the needed attention it should because when the weather permits the Valk is out the door. So I had been thinking of selling the VW, I can get a good amount of $ for it, but why? was the final question, the VW is bought and paid for and you never know there may come a day where I cannot ride the Valk for whatever reason, so I can still drop the top and get som e semblance of wind albeit in a car. I have the move the VW to get the Valk out and shuffel other stuff around but I finaly said F it I am keeping both, its paid for.

Keep having fun on the Kawasaki. Sell the white one. Ride the Valkyrie on a couple of long (multi-day, perhaps VRCC related) rides this summer,
and I bet you'll quit thinking about parting with the Valkyrie...

I have a 97 Valk tourer and a 98 1100 Shadow ACE. The bikes were bought a year apart. The Shadow has 22K the Valk has 65K. The Shadow was purchased for Tammy who likes 2-up.
I gotta sell the Shadow. Save the Valk.

I think Misunderstood's offer was insulting. I'm appalled and embarrassed for him.

I can give $2200 but I can't come get it until late Spring.   Wink

I hope you won't be sorry. I sold my valk a few years ago. Bought a Wing. Damn if I didn't miss the valk. I bought a valk back in Oct. I kept the Wing for when the wife wants to ride. I made the valk into a solo bike for when she doesn't go. Good luck with your sale. I really like the color.

I don't know about sellin' the Valk!
Hardbag it, add a w/s & a comfy seat then take some trips with the lady on the back before you sell it.  Cool Might change your mind.

FWIW, this is what $2000 bought me last May.

1999 Standard, 46,000 miles, dirty & nasty as he!!, loaded with "redneck rigs", missing a few pieces, & some gas tank dents.  Ran perfect with lots of extra stuff which I either cleaned up & used, gave away, or still have in the stash. After a quick clean up I received lots of insultingly low offers which I did not take. Don't need the $$$ so it stays!

This is how it looks now.

Still piddling around with it.

$4,000 sounds about right in this economy. Froms the looks of your Valk it's obvious you have taken good care of it. The 71K miles will scare a lot of the V-twin disciples away.  Roll Eyes  Just hate to see you off the Valk!

I have 3 bikes and run all of them... The Valk is the newest to me but has been in the family since new in 2000.   One of them is going to be sold... but it won't be the Valk for sure.  Best ride ever.
