There are several Valks in that area... Occasionally they will get together for a "wrench party."  When thre is a wrench party, it's a Valk community gathering to get to know each other, and to work on the Valks.  If you don't know how to do something, then chances are someone there will, and they all help each other like brothers and sisters should.   Contact Phyllis at lyndel@flash.net and see when the next one is, and she will also know a good mechanic, if you can't wait on a wrench party.  She owns a number of Valks

Houston guys will probably weigh in, but in the meantime, welcome. Any particular problem you need to have cleared up or just maintenance at this point?  We can usually give some direction on service and the national Tech Board is a great source of Valk mechanical know how.

May be a little to far for you, but I have one I trust in SW Houston.

JK Performance Center
11502 S. Garden
Houston, TX  77071

(located just off Sam Houston Tollway)

713-304-1388
713-271-0550

JK (John Kittleson) worked for Southwest Honda for around 25 years and has opened his own shop.  Has many factory certifications on many models.  On my Valk he has changed tires, installed trigger wheel, and rebuilt front forks with Progressive springs, replaced fork seals, and done brakes.

I am happy with his service.

JK does not advertise, but he replaced the battery on my Yamaha V-Star 1100 (my other bike for now),  removed the carbs and cleaned them up (sat 1 yr), removed and cleaned the tank, and it runs like new now.  I heard about him for an old motocross rider that I work with  Fox202.  That battery for my V-Star is about 129.00!  I am selling it anyway and need it to run good.
JK had a bunch of bikes in his shop when me and a buddy dropped ours off.  Just as we were leaving, a 1970's vintage Wing showed up in need of service.

All that to say that I am very happy with the work done and the price was fair also.

I've had great experiences with Motorcycles-unlimited on 1960.  Never have had a Valk in there but my bandit was happy after it left their shop and the recommendation came from my V-max buddies which are as cult-like with their bikes as we are.

ask for Patrick, though you are likely to get him on the phone when you call anyway.

Huffman, Texas close to Houston

« Reply #8 on: June 18, 2008, 10:29:35 AM »

I'm in the Huffman area have done all my own work for the last 5yrs. Also Cutter is out toward Conroe and does most or all his own repairs and add-on. What are you needing done maybe we can help. Glad to see someone else on the north side of Houston. Wife and I travel to conroe to the outlet mall (not my Idea) but it gets us on the bike and out of the house. We also travel through there going the A&M to visit son  so maybe we can get together sometime.

welcome aboard. What are you needing to have done? These bikes for the most part are easy to work on. I have only let a 2nd party work on mine once cause of warrenty. Other than that, I do all my own. I did pull the motor to replace the rear cover due to alternator bolts breaking off from the last...... well I won't go there. I did let Honda of Houston rebuild my alternator the second time (january 08) but I pulled it and took it to them. Last week the damn thing took a dump on me again for the 3rd time. I pulled it and took it to an alternator shop in Tomball. Rotor was bad and should be ready today or tomorrow morning. Honda will only give you 90 days and was around 120.
I use Global Motor Sports on kuykendahl  www.globalcycles.com  north of 1960 for tires and anything I don't need to get from the dealer. They do have mechanics and would use them if needed. Ed and Willie are good folk.  Just holler if ya need something.
