Are there any active Valk riders in the midlands area of South Carolina interested in getting together for some local riding ?
Looking for folks in the Columbia, Lexington, Newberry, etc areas who would like to do some evening or weekend rides now the weather is getting nice.

My sister lives on edisto island but I don't get there with the bike too often and I am always fishing. There are SC people on the board though.

I live in the upstate. I usually ride in the mountains, but come down there some... I want to ride
to the Congaree swamp and walk on the boardwalk, but will be at least an all-dayer for me... have
you ever been there? Rickyd lives down there...

Yes, it has been a while but last time there it was nice. I would advise doing it before hot weather, skeeters n wizzards are there in clouds in the summer. I like the mountains as well, just don't get there as often as I would like. Let me know when you are heading this way or perhaps my next run up to Highlands we can meet somewhere.

I am also in the upstate, and usually go north to see my parents in Virginia. Would like to get together with more Valk riders in the area and ride. My Step-son and daughter in-law live in Camden. We try to get down there about once a month.

Got any plans? I wouldnt mind coming down with Mike, if that is possible.

That sounds great, I would like to meet some of the members here. Be sure to let me know when you guys are going to run to the Congaree swamp park, it is about a hour ride from here, will meet somewhere and ride along.

Got any plans?

Me and Stanley Steamer want to meet up early one morning at Grits and Groceries in Belton...

Anyone else (Bill?) could meet us there and we could ride backroads down towards Columbia, meeting other
people (RickyD? Lakehunter?... shake Frank Smoak loose from his firmly rooted place in
Charleston???) along the way...

Hopefully this could happen some soon Saturday... it will take all day to noodle around on backroads
getting there, an hour or more to walk on the boardwalk some to see a few giant Cypress trees,
and then get back to the upstate...

Count me in for a Saturday ride most any weekend, could meet somewhere around the top of Lake Greenwood depending which side you are coming down. Drop me a note as to the weekend chosen, look forward to it !

I live in Lexington and would love to get up with you for a ride! cooldude  Also have a friend with a Valkyrie who lives on the lake in Lexington. He seldom ever gets online here but I know he would be ready to ride any time.

My email address is in my profile.

I didn"t see it in time.

You didn't miss anything Shades, we haven't got the ride together yet  Smiley

I'll use this thread to figure out who to send emails to, and also post here as we try to get it together...

I just looked, this weekend is looking all thunderstormy in the upstate with  just a chance of rain over in
Athens Ga and in Columbia, but that could change... I'll be in Charleston the week after that...
let's hope this weekend starts looking up, surely one of the next few will be good...

Any time that you'd like to ride in the mountains of VA let me know.

Some friends of mine are talking about a trip to the VA Beach area in June. I'd be interested in any good rides in that area. Everything that I know of there is straight and flat.

This Saturday (March 19) is pretty goo looking at this time... I've been all over the place the
last few weeks (Charleston this past weekend) and haven't even bled my Valkyrie's rear brakes yet,
but I have my eye on Wednesday afternoon for that... yahoo for staying light for an extra
hour after work!

My idea for a "Midlands Of South Carolina" ride is to converge on the boardwalk trail-head
at the Congaree swamp.... "should" be a safe place to park the bikes while we take a quick
look at the forest...

Anywho... if this idea picks up any steam, we should do this ride on the 19th... I'll rattle
Stanley Steamer's cage after my bike is back together (hardly anything left to do)...

Spadman... lakehunter... I wonder who else?

Myself and a co-worker have to work this weekend for a half a day on Saturday and Sunday to change banners out from the Winter to Spring ones....have to do it 4 times a year...one for each season.....only plus to it is I make over $400 for 12hrs of work.....and I'm thinking the Fat Lady deserves some new Progressive rear shocks....just not sure if I want the 440's or the 412's?....just me on the bike 99% of the time.....the 412's are $300 and the 440's are $645 from the progressive website.....YIKES!!....412's should be better than the stock ones with 85,000 miles on them?....and I can't remember if the stock length is 12.5" or 13"...... Undecided

Shoot...

Anywho... I have progressive 440's, 13 inch, HD springs... the "not-HD" springs were OK for just me,
but I can set the HD springs to be good for me, and good for two up...

People really like Works Performance shocks... they're $555 at the eBay store...

Well... there's two of us interested so far... me and Lakehunter (Mike)...

I'd love to ride over there and meet some of the SC Valk riders.....if you guys do decide to do it on another weekend, I'll try my best to be there......getting some goodies for the Fat Lady is the only thing that makes it bearable for me to have to give up a pretty weekend of riding.... Sad

Checked on the Congree National Park location today. Park is open 24hr daily, visitor center opens 8:30am till 7pm during daylight savings time. Park is free admission, parking is free too. This Saturday has a guided hike on the boardwalk with a ranger at 9:30am and at 1:30pm something called skins n bones refering to critters found in the park via study of skulls and furs found there.

Looking forward to the ride ... btw, for you cwp holders, carry is now ok in the park except in specially marked buildings like the admin bld.

Hope the weather holds !

OK - it's just Lakehunter, Titan and me so far...

I put the rest of my bike back together last night, I'll ride it to work today...

I think I can make it to Chappells by 10:30, is that a good place to meet up?

I think we can go from there to Saluda, then 178 to Pelion, then north-east up to I77 and then 48
to the swamp all in about 2+ hours...

Mr. HickoryNCInterstate could get to the swamp from Hickory in about three hours, and to Chappells
in about the same amount of time, but both routes are mad slogs down the Interstate...

TheSpadMan and Shades are interested too, we'll have to send them emails or something if they
don't post here by Thursday night... I think Shades is at Gaffney?

Guys

While you're in Saluda, NC I can highly recommend the Green River BBQ, cooldude 131 W. Highway 176, just outside of downtown, across the RR tracks.

Have had many a good lunch there!

Hey Mike ,

A 10:30 meet in Chappells sounds good to me, intersection of hwy 34 & hwy 39. There is a gas station / store there across the street from the post office.

I'll keep a check here to confirm, looking forward to it.
