Perhaps keep the Valkyrie until you've had the Wing for a while...? Then decide which
one to keep... there are other Valkyries, but you have a pretty cool one...

I guess if I was able$, wanted, and had an intersate, I might consider a wing and then get a standard or sell/trade IS parts for standard parts, that would be near 3K and still keep it

You might want to consider the BMW K1600 GTL as well. I agree on holding off on the sale of your Valkyrie until you are sure you like the new bike more.

Do you ride mainly oen up or two up?
I thought about a Wing. I've ridden the GL1800 about 5,000 miles and it really does handle well. Will leave a Valkyrie in the dust on the straights and in the curves.
BUT there's too much stuff at the back of the bike for me as a one up rider. When ridng an 1800 I can mentally "feel" the volume of the bike behind me. Just too much stuff back there.
As a two up rider go for it. Your passenger will love the Barcalounger back there.

I have a 98 Tourer and bought an I/S to relace it. After riding it for a week, I resold it and kept the tourer. The I/S was too top heavy for me. The Tourer handled much better. In '07 I got an '05 Wing and kept the Tourer. The Wing handles much better than the Valk and has better brakes too. I love both bikes and hope I can keep both for many years.

Less plastic and more iron for me but I think I could get used to an 1800 efi motor without all the trunks and compartments.

Great comments,thanks for the input,I really would love to have a Black wing but not sure if we can swing it right,I'll have to convince the wife unit. I do mainly ride one up but I am just so used to all the storage don't know if I could go without, as far as handling an I/S or a wing in the corners? No problem,I ride em like I stole em.That BMW is sharp too.

I'd wait on the wing,Here are my reasons..1) Could be a New wing coming in the next couple years(if Honda gets there act together) that could make it worth it, 2) you already have one of the nicest Honda's ever made!, and 3rd your bike is worth more to you than you could sell or trade it for.
Wow those 2012 Wings are spendy!!
I will say the Wing is a nice ride but in the real world, you Still have an awesome ride!!

Do what floats your boat, I for one would still talk to ya I did the exact same thing - sold my 1500 Goldwing and bought an I/S I can't tell you what you should do - it needs to be your decision - I wouldn't mind having a Goldwing - but only as a second choice. I got a 30k 96 se wing late last year with the intent to sell my Valkyrie. I am in no hurry to part with the Black Valk, twist the throttle and smile.

You have a rare breed of a valk. I love that color, I think you will miss it. So many Wings out there you have a classic.. Hang on to it if you can I think you will miss it. My first street bike was my 99 I/S, I don't see anything out their that makes me want to sell my bike. I know my bike and how to work on it and love the style. Wings have way too much plastic on them. The Valk reminds me of my studebakers. You could pull up on your valk with ten new wings and everyone wants to look at the valk. They have a unique appearance to them. Think hard about it but whatever you decide I will still talk to you, as well.  |
