Frank Buckles, the last living U.S. WW I veteran, has passed at the very sprightly age of 110.  Mr. Buckles lied about his age to get into the Army and served as a driver and warehouse clerk; that doesn't diminish his service.  He was in the Philippines when the Japanese invaded and spent three years as a Civilian POW.  In the past few years, Mr. Buckles has worked to have the WW I Monument in D.C. restored and rededicated to all WW I Veterans not just the D.C. Veterans,

I suppose now the "war to end all wars" is officially over for our US doughboys, as I'm sure he relived  parts of it in his memories until the end.

That was termed "The Great War"...."The War to End all Wars"...the war to make the world safe for democracy.

Then we started putting Roman numerals after them.

God hold you Mr. Buckles.
November used to be "Armistice Day".
I think it still should.
We Veterans have every day to enjoy the freedoms we fought/served, put it all on the line for.
A day/week of rememberance is important for those who never got to come back.
Never Forget. NEVER!
