I hit the ditch last week on my Valk.  I was riding down the road with my mind on work. That was my mistake. The car in front of panic braked because of a weaving driver in front of her. My panic stop didn't go so well.
The bike wound up in soft dirt of a ditch.
My hands are pretty scratched up. I thought I had broken my pinky, but it is getting better quickly so it is probably only sprang.
I went on to work, bandaged myself, and kept working with the knee ripped out of my pants.
Keep your mind on it. Ride safely.
I'm on spring break this week so my hands have time to heal. I'll be fine. The Valk is fine.

At least you weren't hurt bad and sounds like the bike wasn't either.  It can happen so quick.

Heal quickly.

We all have our head somewhere else at times. Thank god your o-k. You know from your own personal obsevation how quickly things can go wrong. We also know the ramifications are/can be lots worse. Thanks for sharing-if it wakes up just one of us-than the close call you had is not in vain. I know that most times this sounds redundant-but i always always mean it-RIDE SAFE. coolsmiley

Thanks all.
The driver in front of me, who was not at fault, pulled over and checked on me. She was upset and I had to calm her down as I picked up the bike. I poked the mud out from between the pipes and was ready to go to work. When I arrived at work I had a co-worker unlock my office door so that I could bandage my hands.
I'm mostly fine, but typing still hurts. It's a shame that typing hurts because I had planned to use this spring break to work on a project that I've been writing.

My new helmet came in today's UPS. The last helmet did it's job and kept my face off of the pavement. The old one looks banged up, so my wife ordered me a new one. Same color, same make, and with the flip down sunshade that I like so much. I'll wear the new one and hope that I don't need it.
