Keep in mind, his work only looks the way it does from one VERY specific angle, and other angle and it looks more like a Salvador Dali painting... That's how he achieves the 3D effects is by forced perspective and designing the entire image to be viewed only from one point...

I.E. It wouldn't be very good on a gas tank, unless you made everyone who looks at it stand in a very specific location to see it...

Very true. I've attended artist expos that displayed similar art.  From any angle except the "zone", you can barely make it out, or it looks like a mess kindergarten kids would make!

It also looks better in a photograph than in real life, since the photo is 2D, which enhances the effect.
