(Cross posting this, I put it on the tech board, but the Texas board is really helpful too...)

Apologies up front, I'm more of a computer geek than a wrench turner, but I do most of the work on my Valk. After 100,000 miles, it was time to replace the front brake rotors, so I googled around and read the posts about using GL1800 front rotors on the front of the Valk, so I proceeded to order a pair (Left and right).

They came in, I replaced the rotors, and changed the brake pads as well (Long story, I actually replaced the calipers themselves, twice, but that's another story...)

Anyway... Got everything button'ed back up, took a quick ride around the block and it was NOISY. Quickly brought it back home, the left side rotor was _HOT_. Got a flash light out and looked up in there, the caliper is rubbing against the rotor. That can't be right... Anyone ever seen this before with the GL1800 rotors? Everything looks like it's put together right as far as I can tell, but obviously something ain't right... Any ideas?

The right side caliper/rotor looks fine as far as I can tell, it's just the left side that's screwy.

Here are some pics, they're pretty crappy, real hard area to get a picture of:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There's a front wheel installation sequence... it is in the manual, and on this link...

http://www.valkyrieriders.com/shoptalk/TireChangeSplineLube.htm

Might want to take a look at that before you start pounding...  Wink

Thanks... *Blush* That was embarrassing, but that was it...

So... loosened everything up, pounded the axle into place, then tightened the axle bolt up, THEN both sides of the pinch bolts... I'll go out tomorrow and loosen it all back up, tighten the left pinch bolts, THEN the axle, THEN right right side pinch bolts as the instructions state...

No blushing needed.   We've all been there.
Ps. I really like the 1800 rotors and the new oem brake pads.  Real quiet.

Much better to be embarrassed in front of friends (some of whom have had simliar prolems) than to be splattered on a freeway somewhere.  We'd miss you!

Thanks for asking for help instead of "manning it out".  And thanks to all you guys who helped him find the error.
